Betty Davis, a wonderful hit.
When push comes to shove and the boredom train is at your stop, what better to do than post in your journal? ;o

Todays topic is Bette Davis. A women of strong will, ackward yet enchanting character and a wonderful sense of presence. She worked hard to get the top, yet was never a big movie star. Had you stepped into the camera with her, you found it difficult to get some spotlight, as she always stole it away from you. Though she had many a problem working with other co-stars and directors, she had a good heart.

Now for some movie reviews! Yes, I'm starting to like posting my opinion. ;3

Dark Victory: The story about a wealthy women with a crazy persona, finds herself getting an operation and what better to know she only has so little to live. At the very ending, where she starts picking flowers, going blind and knowing death is almost near, she tells her friend: "I want you to throw a big party, invite all of our friends and be Gay, be very Gay." These were some of the last words before she crocked. Can you imagine how cracked up I was? Yes, this is the 1930's but at a time like this, it just sounds histerical. It took tears to hold back my uproar of giggles. Besides that, I thought the movie was excellent. Bette Davis's charm and strange acting abilities in this film were very belivable. I give it a 5/5.

Jezebel: I love this movie so much, I couldn't even express in words what it ment to me. How Bette got you really into the story is beyond me. Juile, who is in love with Preston Dillard, decides to go to the ball in a red dress. However, at the time, only unmarried women could wear white. She refuses to wear such a thing and ends up going to the ball with Preston, though he's very disaproving of it. Everyone there is in digust at her dress, moving away from her. Later, Preston drags her to the dance floor, people moving out of the way and the head guy of the ball telling the musicians to turn the music off as Jezebel is causing an uproar. She begs Preston to let her go but he won't. When they get home, she tells him good night, shakes his hand and then slaps it. He turns away, without feeling and rides off into the night. He leaves, never returning untill a year later. Juile hears of this, throws a big party for him and ends up dissapointed because he comes back, married. As the movie goes on, she struggles to win him back, not carring if he's married or not. As I said, this movie is very good. I suggest it highly. 5/5.

Now, Voyager: This movie is sad. I mean, it's really just iffy. Bette plays a girl who's mother is trying to control her but Bette knows better and wants her freedom. The character she played is really dull and not very exciting as her others. This movie is not recommended. 1/5.

Whatever Happend To Baby Jane?: I LOVE THIS MOVIE. It's really really good. Two sisters are living with each other, one in a wheel chair, after getting hit by a car. People say it was her sister that did it, Jane. However, Jane denys it and takes the full responsibility of helping Blanche. However, you soon fine that Jane is not normal. She's very cruel to her sister, always serving her rats and mice for dinner, not letting her outside. Jane still thinks she's famous, having been on stage as a little girl, Baby jane. I'm not going to spoil this movie but will say the ending was very shocking. I give this movie a 5/5.

That's it, for now anyways. I haven't seen any other Bette Davis movies but hope to atleast see Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, which is suppost to be a sequal to Baby Jane.
