Well, I've finally found some time to get some time to myself, where it's not like 3 in the morning and finally maybe write a little bit. It's been over two weeks since I've last written anything, but I'm glad that I'm at the stage I've been through. Hopefully I can start up again and keep steady, it was just rough dealing with this stuff.
The whole experience with Best Buy is over for the most part, although last night Kalen told me they might actually call me sometime, since they have a bunch of Cashier/Floor Workers being fired for one reason or another. Best Buy sure does fire people a lot. Anyway, during the week following Jason's birthday party, I was playing Phone and Kalen Tag getting information from people he was talking with, and just calling Loni at the Human Resources office. We eventually came to the conclusion that Loni is, as Kalen put it, "A lying ho."
She kept telling me over the phone that there were no positions available in the department I had chosen, but the next day when I told Kalen this, when he went to work, he had been talking with his General Manager when someone inquired if they had positions available for hiring, and the GM said they did. Top it off with the fact that one of the interviewers put me on the spot with those drilling questions because he has this thing against Kalen, and the job offer looked dimmer and dimmer. So for a while, I got really depressed about the whole ordeal with school and work, while the time limit got shorter and shorter for everything.
In fact, all last week I did a lot of nothing but going to bed super late, waking up really late, and just existing as a big lump. The first days, I wasn't yelled at or woken up or anything, it was almost if I was being ignored, so it was both good and bad, because I liked the not having parents on my case, but then I had to be a hypocrite and want attention from them even if it was negative.
However, my dad put me in ship shape on Friday as I was leaving to go to J-Team this month. So I started to pull myself together and get over it, and keep trying. I went to J-Team, which was awesome. Veronica helped me and Jen find that FRUiTS book, which is a compilation of J-Fashion that Jen told me she wanted for her birthday. I was glad I was able to find it, maybe she'll get the other one for Christmas or something, I don't know. Sonja wasn't able to get it last year, so I felt kind of cool that I managed. It was like $10 more than Jen said it was at the mall, but it was there and I had the opportunity and I didn't want to pass it up. She kept feeling bad that I had spent so much, but she eventually got over it, because she still deserved the gift.
I didn't have much in terms of food money, because after we left Border's, we walked to T.G.I.Fridays for the Happy Hour specials. I was able to slip by, and since Jen didn't have any money we split some chicken fingers and mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella wasn't very good though, I was a bit disappointed about that, but 2.0 let us have his Loaded Fries, which was french fries covered in cheese and bacon. I had a lot of fun, and I spoke with Jennifer about a lot of stuff, while we had been in Border's we got into our little designing discussions, and she asked for my help next year with some of the gritty work with the design purposes.
Tony showed up too, and later so did Emi with some of her friends, they got back from watching Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. We all walked to WOW! which is basically just Tower Records without The Good Guys! and browsed and read stuff and listened to music. I miss those Good Guys stores.
To my dismay I found two books I must have, Post Secret, which is this book I found way back during Christmas Season when I went holiday shopping with Sonja when Derrick chauffered us around the mall and all the bookstores, and the other book was Scott Westerfeld's Specials, the sequel to the Uglies Trilogy, which I have been waiting for like 6 or 7 months to come out. I was pretty much broke by then though, and of course Jen started apologizing because she could see me fretting over how much the books were to me. I'll come back later for those.
By then it got late, so I walked Jen to the bus stop and saw her off. I let her have the book early, came back to the store, we went back to Border's, hung around a bit more, and bought some Creamsicles and ate those until it got too late and everyone headed home. Tony apologized he couldn't give me a ride, but I caught the bus as soon as I crossed the street, lucky me. mrgreen
Sunday was Jen's birthday, so I woke up early, left a note with some contact information, and bussed it there, arriving like two hours early. We sat and browsed on Gaia, I dressed up her avatar to look more "birthday themed", then we played Kingdom Hearts 2 until Jason and Veronica showed up. Josh and Russell couldn't make it because of work, and it was too late for Sonja to re-schedule, but she had her own day she was planning with Jen, a "girl's day out", if you will.
Then Jen's dad drove us to The Orlean's Casino, so we could go all celebrate her birthday. First we saw Lady In The Water, and Jen paid for like everything, I felt so bad about it, we even got some Red Vines and Reese's Pieces, Veronica kept calling it "Guilt Candy". I will say that I really enjoyed the movie, and so did Veronica and Jen. It wasn't really scary, but I think it was actually more of a comedy, not because the movie sucked or anything, but because it did have a lot of humor in most of the scenes. I think I'd buy it on DVD when it comes out.
Then we went Bowling, had our little ordeal with getting shoes and finding the right size bowling balls because we were all so picky. Jen ended up beating us all, but I came in 2nd by about 6 pins, it didn't help though because Jen had only gotten like 3 hours of sleep.
Jen made me call my Dad then, because he had tried to reach us during the movie, but we couldn't get a response. He basically was checking up on me to see if I would make it home in time for dinner. Then he just made sure that I was getting home at a reasonable time, because he said tomorrow I was going to be having a "busy day". I figured that meant I was going to be put on the spot to get the college and job stuff done, so I just tried to enjoy the rest of the day as much as possible.
From there, we went to the arcade, where they had the new DDR Supernova. I need to come back there so fast, I miss it already. I don't know much about it, but I guess it's a new U.S. released cabinet of DDR, and I love the song choice. They had "Jerk It Out" by The Caesars, which won me over from the start, so of course I had to play that song. When we were all tired and sweaty, Jen's dad picked us up again, and we headed home. We hung out in Jen's room, and her mom brought us dinner, which was noodles with sausage and meat sauce, it was so good. Then her parents sort of retreated off to play Bingo, so we all just sort of laid around and watched T.V., and we cut the cake for Jen. There weren't any candles or anything so we took a match and lighted it.
But Jen got really out of it by then, it was getting late, so we all tried to force her to go to sleep, but she wouldn't really do it until Veronica and Jason got picked up to go home. Then I turned out the light on her and walked into the kitchen to go bum around on Gaia again. She came out of nowhere and hugged me, then finally went to sleep. Her parents finally got home around midnight, apologized for running late, and dropped me home, I was just glad I kept my promise and said goodbye to Jen before I left, I almost didn't because they were rushing me out.
Monday I woke up at 9, and we started everything off. Kelly was going to be driving me around, getting all my financial aid in order, and then we were going to set up interviews with some of the places nearby the school, or working in the campus if that was possible. I won't bore you with how that went, but I was proud I got it done, and thankful to Kelly, since this "busy day" as I found out from my Dad was her idea to get me off my a**. sweatdrop
I got some applications for campus positions, so I was happy about that. Then we just made our first stop at Target. While Kelly bummed around, I filled out the application on the computer, and called Sonja to get some addresses, I got a little chatty with her though when I shouldn't have been.
When we were about to leave after I had finished though, Kelly had sort of a gut instinct and told me to go back inside and ask about the interview. Turns out, as I was heading in, one of the ladies spotted me and invited me in right there to have it without me even saying a word. I ran back to tell Kelly, and her, smug about being right with the instinct, went to get some stuff to eat while I had my interview.
The experience after dealing with the disaster that was Best Buy definitelty helped, and I now I knew exactly how to sway both of them to my side, no offense to Sheena or Toni of course, they were very nice and I couldn't have asked for easier interviewers. I'll never admit to them I took a peek at the interviewing booklet to see what kind of stuff I'd be asked while they were swapping out. mrgreen
Toni was the easier of the two to handle, because she was sort of the "mom" type, and when I would answer my questions with, say, examples regarding my experiences in the computer field at VoTech, I think she was a bit more impressed because the stuff I was talking about was going over her head a little. But hey, it worked, because she went all "mom" on me, asking me if I was going to do a good job and show up and not be late. I told her I would, trying to look all serious to her.
And then she sort of congratulated me, filled out some papers, and gave me this little packet I had to go give to this laboratory to have my drug test. So, without her really saying it, I got the job. My first job, Target. Not something to write home to the family about, but it's a job, and I'm a teenager, so this is a reasonable spot for me, it's not like I'm middle-aged or 80.
We went to LabCorp, I peed in a cup, I was clear of drugs, and we drove home. I called my Dad on the way home to tell him the good news, and I was a bit disappointed he didn't sound as happy as I thought he would. But I told myself to forget about it, he wasn't going to spoil the moment. Plus, Kelly was beaming, saying to me how she was going to gloat to Dad about how she can just take me out one day and get me a job like that. So I do owe Kelly a lot. A lot a lot.
So from here my next step is to get to work, get all my class schedules together, and start going at it, and busting my a** for some money. Only problems I see are scheduling with work and my classes, and trying to get Anime Vegas Con dates off. I hope that when they purge all the students who haven't paid, I can snag a spot in an earlier math class, or I'm going to have to ask for Tuesdays and Thursdays off. I guess I'll just see what happens, at this point I've done all I can do.
