ANTIE tried to track Rose, but she did not have her communicator. It was very strange that Rose had not responded to her questions when she had arrived. There was definately something wrong with Rose.
"If Rose had been a computer," ANTIE told the pets, "I would have thought she'd been reprogrammed." ANTIE heard herself say that, and then replayed the camera images of Rose.
Rose had been barely dressed in black and darkness, and... ANTIE searched for a good view. She knew what she was looking for. Rose, being part angel, fairy, fox and demon, had many strange qualities. And her parents, unsure of how to best keep her safe from herself, had given her a special gift. A forehead jewel. Not an uncommon decoration on Gaia, Rose's parents thought that Rose's constant wearing of such an article would hardly cause comment. But they enchanted that jewel, and made it unremovable from Rose. The jewel's purpose was simple; to tell how much good Rose held in her heart. If the stone was a sapphire, her heart was as good and sweet as ever. But if the jewel changed to ruby, the darkness in her heritage had taken over. It would not mean that Rose was evil, really, but that her heart held anger and uncaring and fury, rather than love, compassion and caring.
ANTIE saw it then, and froze the shot. She gathered the pets at her display screen. She enlarged the shot of Rose's face.
"Rose is not feeling herself, I believe." ANTIE stated. "At least, I do not believe so." She explained to them about the properties of the jewel. "And that, along with her abnormal behavior, leads me to think that there is more trouble in her than her heart being full of anger and hatred. I think something evil has changed her, somehow. We need to get her back, and fix it."
The pets nodded, and decided that they should check Rose's friends' houses first. Maybe they could even help find her.
Olay! skampered off to go find Sephrain1, Niko went to go check in with Koopa2, Tuft went to check in at Chazu's, and Kipper went on to Dragon's.
Kipper needent do much once he was there; he was mostly sent to see if Rose was heading there. Because once the pets left, ANTIE opened her communication line to Nissa.
"Nissa, is Rose there?" ANTIE asked quickly.
A short silence preceeded Nissa's quick response. "No. Why?" Nissa resisted asking ANTIE what was wrong. Nissa had a higher AI integration than ANTIE3, and it showed sometimes.
"Rose is missing, and I beleive she may not be herself." ANTIE explained. She also transmitted to Nissa the file on the properties of the forehead jewel, and the time-stamped picture of Rose's face.
"Oh dear." said Nissa, after taking two miliseconds to review the information. "This may be bad."
ANTIE recounted very quickly the situation under which Rose had most previously been following the fox-neko attack, and the frantic trasnmissions received from the Gaian forest.
Nissa's concern showed on her display. "I will look for her as well, and I will send you everything I find." she paused. "I hope she's alright."
ANTIE nodded. "Me too. Please let Dragon know, as well. "
Nissa agreed, and they both went to work in their search. Nissa dedicated many of her subsystems to it, though she did have other things to be concerned with. ANTIE, however, dedicated as many systems as she could spare.
