Five years have passed.
My children do not remember what happened.
They can not remember that day.
But images are too vivid for me to forget.
And for you to forget.
Five years.
An anniversary of sorts.
I can only hope that this anniversary will become one remembering a terrible event that helped us unite as a country, and opened our eyes to the rest of the world.
My children have forgotten, but I will make sure they know.
We can never forget.
Please let us never forget.
History is full of mistakes that cost dearly to those who were there when they were made. It is also full of repeats of those mistakes, made over and over again. We must not forget, because this should never happen again, nor something like it. We must learn from it as much as we may, and strive to improve. Only then will we have fulfilled our promises to never forget.
