A return to Gaia *rose*
The mage Taran had quite a few neat things in his locked metal box. It was really a hide-a-stoarge box, so he called it. He had a varitable portable room full of items. First he pulled out a map of the dungeons, and then his wand.

"I assume you can fly, can you not?" Taran asked Rose while searching through his box.

Rose, trying to look over his shoulder into the box, wasn't listening very hard. "No... can't fly." she mumbled.

'Can too.' responded the voice in her head.

Taran looked back behind him and up at Rose. "Would you make up your mind?" he asked jokingly.

The gwees had thought, what with Rose's current predicament, that it would be best to put that voice of Rose's on the speakerthought wave. Everyone could hear it, and, thankfully, not all of Rose's other thoughts.

"I... wish I could." Rose muttered. This was getting aggravating. The voice kept piping up with things Rose didn't remember about herself. It was very frustrating.

'Glad you can't.' muttered the voice poutily.

Rose sighed, and shrugged. "Either way, I'm not letting over, so, I can't fly. Even if she says I can." Rose responded. There was not even a mutter from the voice.

"You, um, shouldn't have to." responded Taran, standing and stretching, having been bent over his box for some time. "You see, I, um... have been checking on something." he said guiltily. "Your demon heritage is quite long. And all of them have had the innate ability to fly. Without " -he added- "the need for wings. Even being a quarter demon, that power is still yours."

Rose raised one eyebrow in her stern expression.

"All you have to do is..." Taran explained to Rose how to tap into that ability, or at least, he tried. After a few hours, Rose gave up for the time being, saying that she really wanted to get going, and they could work on that later. Taran agreed, and they started on their quest.

Taran tried to use the tip of his wand for light, so they could read the map... but as all he produced was a flame, he almost burnt the map four times before the voice in Rose's head reminded her of the light ball she had previously used. So they walked by the light of Rose's creation, up and, eventually, out of the caverns.

It took them only two days to get free of the caves. But once they were, they were lost, so it would seem, in a demon realm. Here, Taran sputtered again. And as he once again started tinkering around in his metal box, Rose spoke up.

"I have an idea." she said somewhat stiffly. "It may be dangerous, but, well... it may be worth a shot."
The gwees smiled at her, then at each other. Rose wondered how much they really liked danger.

"Well," Taran said, stretching. Rose couldn't help how startled she was, once again, that a mage could be as young as he. "let's hear it, and see."

"I have a bracelet that will take me to Luman's home. It exits at a portal that is right next to the portal that goes back to Gaia. We could use it, and then head right into Gaia."

Taran looked skeptical... and maybe even angry. "And you are telling this to us now instead of two days ago because?"

"Oh! It didn't work in the caves." she said.

"And you think it will work now?" Taran asked.

Rose nodded.

"All right, we can try it. Tuli, Jaa, make ready to defend... wherever it is we're going."

They all gathered around Rose, who put the bracelet back on. They held onto her- the gwees hung on her back and head, and Taran took her other arm. She then twisted the bracelet in a certain way, and a black and blue vortex appeared before them. They walked through-

-and into the teleporter room in Luman's house. Unfortunately, they were not the only ones in the room. One of Uli's goons was in there, straightening out supplies. A quick shot of ice from Jaa and he was frozen solid and still faced away from them. Hoping he wouldn't be able to see them, they quickly ran across the room and towards the other portal. Here everyone held on as before, before leaping through-

-and they ended up back in Gaia, in a strange clearing outside Barton. The same one Rose had come to before. She couldn't know that her bracelet actually limited where she could go via the portal, and that her powers actually had more to do with the ability to move interdimensionally than any device. The portals back at Lumans were there mainly for use by demons and creatures that would need the help.

Now that they were back in Gaia, they decided that they needed a place to stay for the night before continuing their journey. Especially since Taran said he wanted to consult some maps and such.

'Where are we going, Taran?' asked the voice in Rose's head.

Taran looked up, at Rose, and sighed. "Somewhere where you will be recognized... and that may not be a good thing." He looked sorrowful, and Rose frowned. That couldn't be good.

For the time being, though, they decided to stop over at Rose's house. Which Rose wanted nothing to do with, but with the voice having speakerthought, she was over-ruled.

'There should be food there, and weapons if we need them, and I really need to check in with ANTIE and tell her what's going on and leave messages for Chazu and Dragon... and... apologize...' the voice in Rose's head slowed to a stop, and Rose raised a hand to her forehead.

"Great. Now I've got a headache." she said.

"What... do you have to apologize for?" Taran asked, apprehensively.

Rose simply turned her head and looked at him in the eye, her forehead wrinkled in pain. "For not listening to... well, I was going to say reason, but I suppose it would be the voice." she sighed. "I... did some things at the bidding of my uncle. To people that the voice... wait, can we at least name the voice? This is getting quite annoying."

Taran crossed his arms in front of his chest.

'I have a name. You are already using it.'
the voice said.

"No, that won't work." Rose said.

'Fine. For now, call me... blue.' the voice said, and her tone then sounded cheerier. 'After all, it is part of our name.'

Rose nodded.

"So... care to finish your story, Rose?" Taran said. He looked unamused.

"Oh. Yes. I did some minor destruction to the homes of Dragon and Chaz, who the v- er, blue, says are my friends."

Taran looked angry.

"I didn't know that then!" Rose defended. "I didn't even hear blue then! All I knew was what I'd been told. I didn't know more than that-"

'Until the controlling agent wore thin.' blue finished. 'Only then had I enough power to come to the surface. Though to the surface and not above it is where I am stuck.' If blue could sigh, she would have. But instead, there was silence. And silence remained.
It was a very long, silent walk for all of them.

we'll ignore Rose's discretion on the actual amount of damage done to Dragon and Chazu's, for now, won't we?

Heh. If the inner voice is blue, does that make you red?

In addition, you'll be paying for that "Minor" damage much later.
