Gaia has less items, exact number? I don't know, if you know, post a comment. I know its over 1.3k.
On Neopets you earn money primarily from games, but also by working the market, and clinking various sponsor links-type things. You do not earn anything from posting in the 'boards'.
On Gaia you earn money by lurking, posting, pinklinks, artrating, taking polls, minishopping, and clicking sponsor links, but also by working the market.
Where 'working the market' is buying stuff and selling it for a higher profit.
Neopets has over a hundred games.
Gaia has one game. Fishing.
Neopets has 'boards', BUT:
~ the categories are limited to Neopets related stuff (i.e. there's no general discussion)
~ links and images are not allowed
~ the quote system is primitive
~ language is very restricted
~ the people are stupid
~ the threads are deleted automatically after a little while, they won't be there the next day
~ posts cannot be edited
~ postcount is not kept track of
