So I was raised by my mostly-gothic mother. I love Halloween! It never really clicked with me that my mother was kinda gothic untill this past year. Liking black cats, practicing witchcraft, writing dark poetry and then burning them over black candles... To me, it just seemed like how mothers were supposed to be. xD Perhaps I was thrown off by the things like having tea parties, owning dollies, participating in school activities, and being a camp counselor. Oh well~ Back when my mum was a teen, they didn't have things like gothic and emo. But she's told me, if you could just go out and buy the style at Hot Topic like you can now, she probably would have. She doesn't dress that way now because, well, she's a grown up. I love my mom. <3
Okay, I just don't get gender roles. Things like the how it's supposed to be the guy that pays for a meal after a date with a girl. It just doesn't make sence to me. Is the girl stupid? Is the girl poor? Did she forget her purse? Then why isn't she paying for her part of the meal?! At least pay the poor chum back later, if only for conveniance. And I always get confused when a guy holds the door open for me. sweatdrop They're already half in the doorway, they should go first! And then when they say "Ladies First~" I get even more confused, as I do not see myself as a lady. More of a... human being that happens to be of the female gender. Shove it. I know they're being polite. But my mother always told me, the reason why a lady goes into a room first is because then the bandit has something delicate to grab as a human shield. Just as women are supposed to walk on the inside of the sidewalk, and men on the outside, so that the trash being dumped out of windows will hit the woman and not ruin the man's nice hat. Oh, but then cars driving by in a puddle will drench the man's nice suit, and won't hit the lady at all...
I bring this all up, because tickets for the homecoming dance went on sale today. I went and bought tickets for my date and I during lunch. "You're paying for us both?" "Yeah, it's cheaper." I have an ASB card, which knocks $14 off the total price. I paid for him, too, because I happened to have correct change on me at the time. :D "I thought I was going to pay?" "Um... You can pay me back for your ticket later." "I'll pay for your ticket, too." "No, really, I'll pay for my own ticket." "No, I insist! I'll pay for us both." We... already had our tickets and were heading for lunch. But he won't stop bothering me about it. D:~ And he's getting all gentleman-y~ I might punch him if he's still all about it tomorrow. I'm paying for my own ticket, damnit. D< Even if it means sneaking money into his wallet.
. . . He's getting all serious about the dance. He's taking dancing lessons and everything. o _o;; If he wears a tux, I swear, I'll kill him, because I'm just gonna dress nice, not formal. D< *suddenly has a knife*
