I was once a human mercenary. I came up short one day when my target was one step ahead of me. Apparently, the one who hired me was an enemy of mine and had sent me to my death. I regret to say that I was not a favorable one in the eyes of those in Heaven. I didn't quite belong in Hell either. When I was killed, i was trapped in a world between; I was one of the nobodies. They say that the dream of every one of us was to be chosen to ascend to the heavens; or sink into the fiery depths of Hell. I rather liked it in my world between; I had no meaning, no recollection of my past life. I finally had a clean slate. I could start over. One day, in the city of the In-Between, I was faced with an important decision. Would I keep walking, as if i didn't see it, or would i save the lives of many a man that day. At that moment, I was contacted by a winged messenger of the In-Between. He gave me a choice; I could ascend into the heavens, or burn eternally in the underworld. But first, he told me I had to make one simple decision. As simple as it was, it turned out to be the most important decision I would make to this day. Would I stay, or would i go?
Today I sit in my study, writing this, the written record of my heroism, the assurance that i would not be forgotten. I doubt that I have much time left, as the tides of war are approaching. It is time for us to ride to the gates of Hell. We will fight for life. We will fight for death. History must repeat itself if we are to survive another day in this land. The time to fight is now
