Oh, so you thought you would get to know me better by reading this?
I POINT AND LAUGH AT YOU.
GEORGE'D

And so, we return.

Whatwhat?
Well, believe it or not,
Elske actually got out of the house.
FOR A WHOLE WEEK.

Also:
+1 year.
=18.

Joanine, my older sister, asked me
to go to George with her, as she needed
someone for her practical exams.
She's studying health and skincare.
You know: mani's, pedi's, facials and s**t.

Ideally, I wanted to give y'all a play by play
of the week upon my return.
Yet, alas, my memory fails me again.
xd

We left last Friday, and the weekend itself was a slow one.
There was no chance of us going out,
since my sis had to study for her above-mentioned exams.
The main highlights, were Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Tuesday, was the practical for facials and make-up.
This was also the first day that I went with my sister
as a 'client' for the practical exam.
Since I arrived with my sister on both days I had to go,
I was in reception at least an hour early.
It was about this time that I realised the brilliance of
my idea to go to the library before we left for George.
Reading material came in rather handy.

Needless to say, I read a lot this past week.

The first experience, was one of unpleasant surprise due to
the lack of privacy shy old me was to have;
they took all the clients to one room,
with a bench along the wall and hooks for clothes.
You had to take your clothes off right there, with all those people.
And everything had to go. All but the lower half of your underwear.
You did get a towel though. Don't forget the towel.

LIKE, FRIGGEN HELL.
Joanine didn't even warn me about that beforehand.
Client modesty, my a**.

Sure, when you're actually on the bed,
nothing is allowed to stick out, else
the student that's working on you loses marks,
but I still didn't like it. You feel naked. Because you ARE naked.
Also, clients were switched about, so you didn't end up
with the person you came with.

First came the facial, then the make-up.
Oh, the make-up.
Problem with these things, is that you're stuck
with the girl that does the make-up's taste:
you have to go home looking like that.
o_____o
They put base on every nook and cranny of my face.
Standard procedure.
But there was no excuse for the colour lipstick she used.
OH. MY. GAWD.
The awfullest shade of magenta I've ever seen.
Ew.

And the EYELINER.
I think I still have some on that won't come off!

I did get a lash tint out of the deal though.
cool

Then, in the evening, came the waiting for midnight...

Wednesday, Elske turned 18.
WOOTNESS.
We couldn't do much, because of the studying,
but we did go out the afternoon.
She showed me Victoria Bay, and we walked around there for a bit.
Then we went to the mall, and had a slice of cake at Mugg & Bean.
The evening, we went to the Dros, a restaurant, for something to eat.
We wanted to go to the Zanzi Bar, but we couldn't find my sister's flatmates
when we got there, so we decided to call it a night.

The day itself was slow, but who cares?
It can still say that I GOT A CAR FOR MY 18th BIRTHDAY.
It's almost hard to believe that I've had it for a month now.
^^'
When we got home yesterday, I was surprised with a second gift
(hidden in the garage, of all places) and a cake.
What was it, you ask?

A MPEG4/DIVX DVD HOME THEATRE SYSTEM.
I have no idea why they got me a second gift!

Joanine got me a piggy bank,
and Liezl, one of my friends at school,
surprised me when she gave me something today.
Unexpected, to say the least.
surprised

On Thursday, came the manicures and pedicures, followed by...
...
....
WAXING.
*Dun Dun Dun*

Underarms, bikini, leg.
'Nuff said.

Now, let's get one thing straight:
Never, EVER go to something like this thinking
that you're getting the better part of the deal.
Free treatments?
No.
They do what they have time for.
You go home with the hair that's left.

For example, they only do one underarm wax.
Like, one of the TWO.
What you do with the hair under the other is your own business.
Lucky for me, we had wax at home, so Joanine could fix what she missed.
Also, she managed to do both of my legs in front in the exam,
but by the time she turned me over to do the backs, she only had 5 minutes left,
so she only managed to wax one of my legs fully.
That also needed to be fixed last night when we got home.

And yes, it hurt.
A lot.
I cried.

An exam atmosphere is not the place for anyone to get their first wax.
You're not allowed to moan, curse, or make a fuss.
You need to keep quiet.
And no joking about, or laughing about the pain.

So needless to say, that by the time she got to the strip wax
she used on my legs, I was bursting to say something.
It's what I do.
It's how I handle it.
She did hot wax first; underarm and bikini, and we laughed and giggled there,
but by the end she'd quieted me down, since she'd lose marks if it continued.
So I sat there, building up tention, as she teared the strip off, again and again.
And there's no "Wait, that hurts, just hold on a sec,"
Oh no.
The wax shouldn't be allowed to get cold, and time was an issue.
The first one stung, but the burning sensation kept intensifying, since
my skin had no time to recover as she kept going.
It just hurt, more and more. And more.
So yeah, I cried.

I cry too easily, true, but it did hurt.
And if you'd seen what my legs looked like afterwards, you'd know why.

Please, PLEASE, if you ever feel the urge to have something somewhere waxed,
go to a salon, take a friend, so that you can make as much noise as you need to
to process the pain. In a relaxed atmosphere, it's not so bad.

Just do it.

Conveniently enough, I could go to George without missing school,
since our exams ended on the 22nd November, and
they usually give us the option to stay at home the last week.
Today was the last day of school for the year, and the idea is that they'd
like students to come to school to get their report cards.
Ahaha, haha, ha.
Yeah. It SO works that way.
In our class, for example, only about a third of us showed up.
There aren't that many people who willingly come to school
after they'd been home for a week, only to sit there for a few hours
and then go home again.

Well, I did get my report card.
78,1% average for the year.

Which means: I didn't do as well in my exams as I'd planned.
.______.
Oh well,
on to the final year!

I really have to put in supreme effort next year.
I want to be able to majorly impress with my Matric marks.

...I think I should stop now.
