The evil man sat on a wooden bench at that gate to the city. He pondered what his master told him. "The boy is not yet dead! He must be erridacted, or he will destroy all that we've worked for! Go now, minion of darkness! The lad is weakened! He lays on a bed in a hospital. Bring his dead body to me. He lays in a town three miles away to the east from the last town you destroyed. GO! DO NOT WASTE ANY TIME! THE END IS NEAR!" How could a single boy pose such a threat to our mighty empire? It seemed unfathomable. But yet he was being sent to kill him. He mumbles, "After I kill him, I will burn this wretched town..." The guard to the gate suddenly looked at him, perhaps finally becoming aware of the person sitting from him but five feet away. "Who are you?! And why do you radiate such evil?!" He drew his blade, but it was too late. The red haired man drew forth a small dagger with lightning quick efficientcy, and before the guard could utter a yell for help, his throat was slit and it was all over. The blood that sprayed from the mortal wound covered the man's leather tunic a deep scarlet, and he knew that the time for stealth was over. He uttered a ancient spell under his breath and energy surged through his muscles. He put both of his hands flat on the iron gate, and he pushed with all his might. After a struggle, the gate ripped from its hinges and squashed the two guards who tried to keep the door shut from him. He walked into the town, and he was surprised by the guards who ran at him. There was only two more left in the miltia, apperently. The guard who was in lead raised his sword over his head, and left himself open. The evil being rushed at him before he could bring his sword down, and jabbed his knife into his gut. With his other hand, he grabbed his sword out of his sheath and beheaded the ingrate. The other guard jumped over his fallen partner with true hate in his eyes, and brought the spear he weilded down on his right arm, the one with the dagger, butt first. Pain corsed through his arm, but he was battle hardened. He brought his sword in an upward slice, and the man fell to the ground in halfves. He wasted no time and headed for the hospital in the center of town. No one tried to stop him. He enetered the hospital with glee in his eyes, his right arm still limp. The nurse in the entrance booth stared at him, and screamed.
I woke with a start. "He's here!" I yelled, and Priscella, who sat by the side of the bed, jumped with a cry. "What?! Who's here?!" I looked at her and saw that she knew who. I reached out and touched her tensed face tenderly with my hand. We stared into each others eyes for what seemed like forever. The scream from down the stairs made us jump, and I suddenly knew he would finish me off. There was nothing anyone could do. "Listen, you have to get out of here. You-" "NO!" she interrupted, and I winced. "I cannot leave you here like this! I've met you once, but I love you! I dont want you to die!" She let out a loud sob, and cried. The tears in her eyes glistened in the sunlight coming from the window, and I almost told her to stay and help me fight. But logic took control of my words right before i replied, so I said, "Listen, I love you too. But that man will kill both of us if you stay. You must leave. Uh, here." I reached into my pocket and gave her my mother's pendent. "Take this, and remember me always. Please, you must leave." She looked at me deeply for the last time, and she took the pendent from my hands and without looking back ran out of the room. My concious cleared, I hoped she got away. I rolled over on my side and grabbed a daggar from the pack Priscella recovered when I was dying in that church. I rolled back over onto my back, an dhid the daggar under the covers with me. Prepared, I closed my eyes and prayed Priscella would get out of this death cursed building before it was too late.
The man charged up the steps, with elf like grace. He wanted to reach him as fast as possible, but wanted to take him by surprise. He reached the top of the stairs and he could've sworn he saw a figure dash into a room. But it mattered little to him. It wasn't that foolish boy's room,. He walked over to the door, and opened slowly. It creaked, but if the boy was asleep, it was fine. He peered in and to his excitement, the boy slept like a doll. He creeped over to him, and quickly brought the sword down.
I heard him enter, and listened carefully for the man's foot steps. When I heard him reach my bed, I rolled to the opposite side and fell hard on my back. I let out a gasp of pain, but, I quickly brought myself to sitting position. The man loomed over the bed and smiled wickedly at my trembling form. He said, "How patheticly cute. You surprised me, but it's over. Good bye!" He raised his sword arm up, and i jumped from sitting position to standing, and gave a weak swipe with my dagger across his stomach. He growled in pain. I look up as he brings down the sword, and- The man looks down at his victim, and carefully slides his blade into the lad's right eye. The lad twitched, so the evil man quickly erased any last vestiges of life in the lad. He lifted up the carcass, and jumped out of the second story window. He landed on the mowed grass with a thud, and he grimiced. The wound the boy inflicted irrated him, and he felt the wound rip a little with the impact. He shrigged off the pain, he mumbled the spell that would set the town aflame. With a loud crack, a bolt of lightning crashed down onto the hospital, and the results made him grin in pure esctacy. After the building collasped from the structral damage, and the fire spread to near by houses, he yelled a victorious scream, and yelled the spell of teleportation. He returned to his master, and awaited his next mission. If only he knew that the results from his victory over the kid would be his death...
