With all that’s going on, I’ve been quite busy, but I must get back to telling my story from the previous entry. I was there in Mr. Horitt’s office having just set fire to his desktop, when a familiar voice came from behind me. “It’s alright, Kayla.” I turned a round to see standing before me none other than Dr. Doby, who had mysteriously disappeared last quarter and had left in my possesion a mahogany cane.

“What Mr. Horitt is trying to say,” he continued “is that you are rather special among your classmates.” He went on to explain that Mr. Horitt had told him about the raw talent I seem to have and how I will need to learn how to control the vast amounts of energy I have demontrated in the past.

“Which brings me to why you are here,” Dr. Doby said “The cane. You still have it?” I told him I did. “Inside the handle you will find a certain ring,” he said. Dr, Doby explained how he had created the ring as a gaiamantic lens to gather and focus large amounts of energy, a little like a super-phasing sigil, but more complex.

“I want you to hold on to it,” said the doctor “Use it. It must be used in order to refine its properties. You are one of the few who have enough power to do it, but it will take some getting used to and you must learn a certain amount of control.”

“But be careful,” Dr. Doby warned. He went on to explain how an underground society found out about the doctor’s work and planned to secure it for themselves. This group apparently has ties to many of Gaia’s most prominent orginanizations, such as the G Corp and GIB as well as the Believers. It was because of this that Dr. Doby has been forced to go into hiding.

I left Mr. Horitt’s office with much to consider. Dottie and I headed straight for my dorm, where the cane was stashed away. I told my companion all about what I’d learned. After hearing the story, Dottie persuaded me to put the ring on and test it out. What happened next scared the hell out of both of us. I prepared myself to summon a small flame in my hand. No sooner than that, my hair seemed to catch fire! Quick to act, Dottie summoned a spray of water at me as I patted my head with my hands. The flames were completely uneffected. It was then that I suddenly realized the fire was not actually burning me. I felt no pain, even when putting my hands into it. So, to test my hypothisis, I began to manifest a spray of water myself. Suddenly, the flames died away, and my hair tranformed again, this time into long locks of suspended water. It was an eerie sensation, and apparently a side effect of using the ring.

Since then, I have done some experimenting. The ring seems adept at summoning and manipulating most any gaiamantic energy without the use of a phasing sigil. The strength and accuracy of the field generated has been a bit inconsistant, but that should get better with practice, as the doctor said. I think I’m going to like this!
