I want to tell you about my day.
Or perhaps I should change that to the past tense-
I never got around to posting this yesterday.
Today was the Swimming Gala at our school.
The students here are devided into two colour groups,
Blue and Silver, and the teams compete against each other
in various athletic codes around this time of the year.
Not only is it great for school spirit, but it also serves
as a means to determine who the school's best athletes are,
and who are sent to represent the school and compete in further events.
I ish Seeelvuurrr.

Back to the Gala.
I'm so glad that it's finally over.
It is, without a doubt, one of the most boring events ever.
Yet strangely, it's somehow kinda fun, too.
Especially this year.
As we are the seniors, we get to have a get together at the pool
once the day's activities are over and done with, and the plan was to
hold a bring-and-braai - each person would just bring something to barbecue
and then eat it themselves.
But yeah, singing and yelling is a big part of the day's events, and in fact,
the team with the best spirit, gets some extra points.
So we go at it like Heck.
It's tradition for the Matrics (that's us) to lead in one last song
at the end of the event, right before it's all over.
We were standing on the far side of the pool, facing the school,
and as the song ended, we all jumped in the pool.
It was fantastic fun.
Why?
I was still in my uniform, as I went to school that morning.
Shoes and all!
I giggled like a loon.
Who ever gets to swim with their shoes on?
The look on one of my teacher's faces was priceless;
she was all like "Elske! What are you going to wear tonight?
And what about your SHOES!?"

My skirt I could wash and tumble-dry, and I have spare shirts,
but the shoes did worry me a bit- luckily, they were dry
when I had to go to the Brag that night.
(We have to attend that in uniform.)
I'd planned to go home and dump my bookbag and change before going back to the pool,
but since I was already wet, I had to call in my dad to give me a lift home
so that I wouldn't get my bag wet as well.
I changed and got my stuff, but by the time I got back
-which wasn't long at all, fifteen minutes, tops-
people were already starting to leave.
The pool was booked 'till 3, and the gala went overtime,
so no-one noticed that the time would run out on us so quickly.
We all left without eating any of the food we brought.

Oh- and blue won.

They won the Brag, too.
It's an event of sorts, where each team
brags with their best athletes.
Points are given throughout the night for various things.
In the end, it all comes down to the points.
Friday, all the track events will be held,
like shotput, and your regular running for example.
Then the winners are announced.
The team with the most points by the end of this week, wins.
We're behind by almost over 200 at the moment. xp
Well, wish us luck!
