Anima Entry (Not Finished!)
I rarely go for rp pets, but the Anima pets intrigued me, and the artwork is cute. I thought I'd at least give the contest a go, since it is for a custom, and I do have an idea for it. If I lose, then that means more time for art!

Entry
Name (meaning/significance is optional): Kakashi (ka and kashi came from the japanese words for secret and deception)

Type (eg. Solitude, Change, Allure...): Deception

Distinguishing Physical Characteristics: Deception can be used for good or evil purposes, so Kakashi has two primary forms. His evil coloration naturally consists of darker colors. He has thick, unruly, crimson hair that has a tendency to fall in his face. His skin takes on various deep gray colors, similar to the brooding clouds before a tornado, with slight bruise-ish purples. Threatening yet well-manacured claws replace fingernails on both hands and feet. He has a long spaded demon tail, but with two tiny black-feathered wings near the end of the spade. There are also two elegant, glistening black-feathered wings that spawn from his back. Bright crimson characters decorate his body, and look to be from some ancient language. They glow and emanate an evil light when Kakashi is in his utmost evil form. Perhaps the most distinctive features are his eyes and smile. He has a full set of perfectly white teeth, featuring several menacing fangs. His eyes are a brilliant display of a vibrant crimson color. They are the window to his soul, and look as though they go on forever into the depths of his very being. These two features are the only way to really see the true Kakashi. While generally capable of controlling his deceptive appearance, Kakashi is betrayed by hints of his true motives displayed in his expressions.
In his pure benevolent form, only the colorations differ. His skin is snow-white, but with the same faint purple aura. The hair and character markings are a vibrant royal blue instead of crimson. All of the wings are a brilliant white as well (both back and tail wings). The eyes take on a deep blue color too.
Because it is rare for deception to be clearly good or evil, Kakashi ends up being a mix of the two forms occassionally. He leans towards the demonic form for the most part though.

Personality: There is very little concrete information that can be gained about Kakashi's personality. He's a deceiver, and because of this, it is difficult to tell what really lies beneath his facades. To some he can appear menacing and mischievious, but to others he can appear caring and kind, though both could all just be a lie and mean nothing. His true self is tortured. Being a deceiver, he puts on a front for so many that he often forgets what is really true or false, and enters the pit of self-deception, which is the worst of all. Because of these inner demons, Kakashi is somewhat of a loner, who doesn't make friends easily. He spends most of his efforts in personal relations trying to make his true motives unknown. He appears unpredictable, and because of this a bit dangerous as well. When Kakashi is alone, his appearance becomes a mix of both his good and evil forms as a result from self-deception. He is continually struggling to control his powers so he can at least have peace of mind.

Memory (write about the exact memory the soul absorbed. Eg: a person doing Solitude would write about someone being lonely): The much anticipated Festival of the Mask came once again as it did every year. For one night, he traveling carnival would come and transform the normally boring little town into a regular land of fairy tales and magic. All participants on the grounds were required to be in costume, or at least conceal their identity. Princes, princesses, dragons, ninjas, pirates, asparagus... nothing was too extravagant or silly for a costume. In fact, the more unrecognizable one was, the better. It's fun and exciting to pretend to be something you're not...

The most entertaining, and perhaps most significant part of the carnival were the people who attended. For some reason, the annonymity that a costume brings causes individuals to forget all proper notions of behavior, and act irresponsibly, foolishly, dishonorably, or in other ways they would not in normal circumstances.

As usual, there were the swindlers, cheaters, and others who profit from trickery. The old apothecary was selling his latest and most precious concoction that promised beauty to any who drank it. "Why of course Madame", he would say, "You'll be gorgeous and youthful as a school girl! The belle of the town! Though I must admit you look absolutely gorgeous already... Just drink this entire bottle and you can expect results in three days. I guarantee it!" The middle-aged woman would take the flattery and false guarantee, and purchase the potion. Three days later, the apothecary would be far from town with his loot, and the woman would find out only too late that she was not only cheated, but was suffering from poisonous results as well.

The priests were also popular fellows. For only a small fee, you too could be absolved of sin! Townsfolk would come in droves for pardons. They would stand in line, trying to count exactly how many sins they had committed in order to purchase just the right amount. Some would even buy extra to save for later occasions. God values your money as well as your love and obedience! Of course, the priests valued the money more, and absolution was not completely guaranteed.

Couples also attended the festivities. What could be more fun than having your significant other pay for it all? After an evening of fun and games, a young couple sat by the river to enjoy a few moments of peace, quiet, and each other's company. They held hands and talked. As the night went on, the two appeared anxious and excited, a bit nervous too, as though something heavy weighed on their minds. They finally started to blurt out whatever it was they had to say, but at the same time. Politely the boy encouraged the girl to go first. "We've been together for nearly three years now, and it's been wonderful!" The boy agreed excitedly. "We've gone through a lot together, and you've always been there for me. I love you for that, but there's something I need to discuss with you." A shadow of doubt cast over the boy's face, but he nodded. "You're my best friend, and I love you as a best friend. I want to save that friendship and keep it as just that, so it will never be tarnished. I hope we can be friends forever, because it means a lot to me. I never told you this before, but I've been seeing someone for a year now, and we're very happy together. He proposed to me about a month ago, and the wedding is in a few months. I apologize for not telling you sooner, but I just didn't want to hurt your feelings or anything, since I wasn't quite sure where we stood as friends, or if you thought it was more... Are you okay with this?" The boy froze for a second before he could answer. "That's exciting! I'm happy for you." "Oh I'm so glad! I was so worried you might be upset with me." "Not at all." "Now what was it you wanted to talk about?" He paused again before answering, "Oh... um, it was just something along those lines... I'm not getting married or anything, but I just wanted to make sure you thought things weren't getting too serious with us..." "Phew! That makes things so much easier. I'm thrilled! I'll go buy us some candy. Be right back!", and she ran off towards the booths, feeling so much better now that she had told him the truth, and that he was okay with it. Unfortunately, the boy couldn't say the same, yet he thought to himself "it's for the best" as he sadly fingered the now useless engagement ring before throwing it into the river.

A woman had been shot by a drunkard, her daughter screaming and crying helplessly nearby as people tried to help the woman. A family friend attended to the little girl, and tried to comfort her and calm her. After doing so, she asked him, "Will Mommy be alright?" "Of course she will. She just needs to see the doctor." A medic finally came and examined the woman, checking for vital signs that were no longer existant. After a complete examination, he sadly shook his head and she was moved onto a stretcher, a sheet covered her body and face. The medic and a few others finally took the woman away to the nearest hospital. The little girl asked, "Where are they taking Mommy, and why did they put a blanket over her?" The man looked distressed, but answered, "Well, they're taking her to the hospital now, so she can get better. They put the blanket on her because she's sleeping right now." "Oh...", the girl replied. "She'll come back right? When she wakes up?" The man paused for a long while... "Yes. When she wakes up..." The little girl was reassured and smiled, and the two made their way to the hospital after stopping for a carmel apple.

The carnival would leave as quickly as it came, and the sleepy little town would resume its normal way of life. For another year, it would serve only as the fantastic memory of a dream-like place, that seemed almost too extraordinary to be anything more than an illusion in the dreary world.

Comments/References: I have filled out teh mighty form! Much luffs on the artwork btw. whee
