Disillusions from my mind.
The Peg...continued
The drive was boring but at least I had my music time. That is until my sister started showing my pictures of the poor frog they had cut open. I swear it was for their own amusement, but the school says its for science...whatever. Once we finally reached our place of destination, well almost, we got out of the truck, of course. I looked at the place we would be eating, it didn't look half bad, but I am not one to judge on looks. As we walked through the doors I realized that it was a buffet, the one where you stand in line waiting to get all the leftovers that had been picked over by everyone. I groaned inwardly and wished we could go to Olive Garden as my parents argued about our place of eating. Inevitably we decided to stick with The Royal Forks or somethign like that. We stood in line and finally got our eating ticket. Then as I made my way over to the buffet line I realized that I was supposedly on the wrong side. So I made my way over to the other side and nearly ran into an old woman.
"Watch it! You almost hit them."
My mother figure put on a stern look for me and then a sorry look for the woman in the wheelchair. I could've sworn it was a man, but whatever, let the world think what they want. I made a face at my mother figure and grabbed a glass plate, I personnally thought that it was stupid to half glass plates, but said nothing.
"You do know that that's a salad plate."
Again my mother figure decides to tell me after I had put food on it, food that was obviously not salad. So i held up the one person behind me as I wiped down the plate and put my cantaloupe and jello on my mothers plate. Then as we neared the other plates...half-way down the table. I had to prod my mother figure numerous times to get her to get me one. Then I found the one thing that made my supper. Pizza. I grabbed two slices of what I hoped was cheese pizza, cantaloupe and jello and headed off to the table we had picked out moments earlier. As I sat down my sister got up. I looked to my left and saw a Belgian Waffle Bar.
"Ooo! A Belgian Waffle Bar.!"
I was rather excited.
"I don't think it's open."
My step-father figure just had to intervene.
"I think it is."
He craned his neck and looked at it.
"No, it says open for Sunday Brunch Buffet."
I didn't look at him as I dived into my piece of pizza. I looked back over at it longinly. This is where William's ghostly presence would have been nice. Finally I finished my small plate and went over to the ice cream bar. I smiled and grabbed a cone. I expected the ice cream to be soft, not medium where when you pull down on the lever it came out in a long star tube and after a few second settled down. The cone was already small enough, now there was barely any ice cream in it. Sadly I made my way over to our table.
"It's like a freakin baby cone."
I sighed and started to lick the ice cream anyway.
