Chapter IV




Athena's Guidance




Vincent carried Ran into a room with many books and strange pieces of paper with signs and letters. "Wait here for a minute, I have to find Tinus." Vincent then pulled from the self a colorful book with pictures and more strange letters. "Its a picture book about our Gods, you can look at it while I find everyone." He handed the book to Ran as he turned to leave the room, "Any on Sakura?" Ran asked while looking up at him. Vincent was shocked but shook his head and left Ran alone.

'He no like Sakura?' Ran thought as she opened the book to a picture of a man holding a bolt of some-sort. The man was aiming it down at another with a blue fire as his hair. She turned the page to see a blue skinned man with winged feet talking to a man with a hammer and making another bolt. Ran thought up a story with the two pictures; the Bolt Throwing was trying to get rid of the Flame but he ran out of bolts. So he sent Blue to Muscles to make more bolts. She laughed at the idea as she turned the next page. The next had pictures of three girls, one had hearts around herself, another was picking flowers, and the last was talking to the girl with flowers. Ran got confused as to why the book then showed them but ignored it and turned the page. This page showed two people, a man and girl, fighting about something. The girl was in blue armor and the boy was in red, personally though Ran liked the blue girl. Behind the blue girl, Ran spied a strange looking bird with big yellow eyes. It was blue like the girl and flew behind her as she fought. "Athena. Goddess of Truth." Ran heard that voice again and turned around. But again no one was there, "Who here?" she asked.

"It's me and Vincent!"

Ran was answered by Tinus which she smiled as they came inside the room. "Did you like that book too? It used to be mine." Tinus said as he walked up to Ran and smiled. "Our mother is ill so we told her about you." Vincent stated, "She believes that we must consult Athena to test and see if you are telling the truth." Ran lifted the book up and pointed to the blue woman, "That her?" she asked while peeking up from behind the book. Vincent nodded and then picked her up again, "Me can walk!" Ran said while trying to reach her bag but Tinus beat her to it. "We are going to a Priestess of Athena, she might be able to help us. For that matter, I want it to be quick so that we can eat, therefore I am carrying you." Vincent explained as they walked out of the manor.
Ran then began to think of the dinner they might have, just the thought made her stomach growl with hunger. "When was the last time you ate Ran?" Tinus asked, obviously he heard her stomach's growl. "Um, me no remember. Me never hungry." Ran said as she hugged her stomach hoping it would stop. Tinus then walked away from his brother and then a while later came back with a red thing. "What that?" Ran asked as she leaned down to see what Tinus had brought back. Vincent and Tinus were shocked, "You don't know what an apple is?" Tinus asked as he gave it to Ran. "Apple?" she then bit into it, tasting the new food, "It good!" she smiled and continued eating the apple as Vincent smirked at a blushing Tinus.
Once Ran finished the apple, they had reached a temple; Tinus explained more where they were going to Ran. Vincent then gently placed Ran on the ground on this strange hard floor, like the floor back at Tinus's home. "Ah! Young masters! How may I help you?" Ran looked up to see a woman dressed in white walk up to them with a smile. "Can you please contact Athena for us Priestess Malki?" Vincent asked as he patted Ran's head, but she shook it off and fixed her hair. "My, my who is this?" Malki came down to Ran's level and smiled, "Me Ran white lady." Ran said since she didn't know how to say Malki correctly. "We need to test to see if she is being truthful about coming from Nei." Tinus stated as he came up to Ran's right side. "Me tell truth!" Ran said as she turned to shout back at Tinus, who ran to his brother to cling onto.

"Hello, little Ran."

Ran looked behind the white lady to a giant statue of the blue woman. She ran up to it despite the group behind her yelling at her. "You....Athena right?" she paused to get the word right. Then out of nowhere, the owl that she saw in the book appeared from above the statue. "I am here for Athena. Now Ran look into that mirror over there." The owl then flew to a mirror and perched itself on top of it. She then turned to Malki, Tinus, and Vincent who were in shock and signaled them to come forward. Ran then carefully walked up to the mirror and noticed the strange markings around the mirror were the same as the ones in her book. "It says; 'Athena's Mirror of Truth and Soul. Do as you are told, and look into your soul.'" Ran turned around to Vincent's explanation.
She nodded and walked up to the mirror, "We meet at last, Ran." Ran looked up into the mirror and instead of her own reflection, there stood a tall young looking adult. Her eyes were dark blue, hair an amber brown, her skin was plain but fair, she wore a tan top that was torn in the sleeves and the hem, and short shorts that were a darker tan. "Who...who are you?" Ran asked as she looked up at the beautiful girl reflecting back at her. "I am Sakura." The girl smiled at her from the reflection, little did Ran know that Vincent was as white as a ghost.
