This is the first story I'll put up. I typed it up earlier since our internet was knocked out. I'm still working on it, so it'll probably be going for a while. ~~~~~ Nysa Le wasn't like anyone else. You could tell by simply looking at her. Her skin was incredibly pale, while her hair was pitch black. Her eyes always sparkled like the amethysts that shared the color. Natural lilac eyes were definitely not common in New York City. At least she could walk around without looking like a total freak. Haven't you seen that "Naked Cowboy" on the streets of Time Square? Now that's freaky.
Well, let's just say my life wasn't easy. That's right. I'm the one and only Nysa Le. All that I'm telling you, or really about to tell you, is true and taken from my own life. First, more details. I lived in my own apartment, despite the fact that I look like a teenager. It was pretty expensive too, but I continued to pay for it. How? I still don't know, since I couldn't get many decent jobs. Who would want to hire someone that looks like me? Anyway, on with the story.
I had just gotten off of work. Fired, really. My walk home was rather slow, since I was thinking about what he had said to me.
"Too many customers are frightened away by you, Nysa. We can't afford to keep you working here," he said without any emotion, not even feeling sorry about it. I just walked out, staring at the floor. I should've just stared at the customers. That would've been hilarious, them running away from me.
People don't seem to realize that I'm truly a nice, kind, and gentle person. They just see my eyes and run for their lives. Am I really that scary to look at? I've never felt good about myself because people always treat me like this, as though I'm a monster.
"Hey, watch it!" I didn't hear him as my thoughts continued to wander, and I walked into the street. The only time I even looked up was when I heard a bus honking its horn ten feet away from me. Just then, a teenage boy ran out and pulled me out of the street, both of us falling to the ground. He landed on top of me, wincing painfully.
"Ow...," I whimpered, my eyes closed tightly.
"Sorry, but I tried to warn you," he said, slowly sliding off of me. He started checking my body, making sure I was alright. I opened my eyes hesitantly, meeting a pair of spectacular silver ones. Something about his eyes made me feel safe.
"Thank you for saving me," I told him as he pulled me up. He smiled warmly, checking my back for injuries.
"It was nothing. Someone else would've saved a beautiful girl if I hadn't," he whispered into my ear, chills running down my spine. My legs grew weak suddenly, and he seemed to realize it as he put an arm around my waist. "I'm Larion, by the way," he said, breaking me free from my thoughts.
"I'm Nysa. Nice to meet you, Larion," I replied, looking at him and smiling for the first time in years.
"Do you need help getting home?" he asked, his eyes piercing my own. I wanted to say no, afraid that he'd find out my secret. That's right, Nysa Le was about to turn down a hot guy. Not just any hot guy, a hot guy that saved her life. You might think I'm crazy, but I'm not done yet.
I was about to say no, but my body didn't listen. My head nodded, and his smile grew as he led me towards my apartment. Of course, I had to tell him which way to go.
"Nysa, I have a question for you," he began, locking eyes with me as we stepped onto the elevator.
"Y-yes?" I asked, afraid to know what the question was.
"Has anyone ever made you feel good about yourself?" The question surprised me. I was ready for questions about my appearance, but not for that.
"Well...no, not before you," I replied, looking down embarrassedly. He gently lifted my chin, causing our eyes to meet again.
"I'm glad to be the first," he whispered, smiling warmly. Then something happened that I thought was impossible. He pulled me closer and gently kissed me. I returned the kiss, my legs weak once again. This time, I would've collapsed if he wasn't holding me up.
"I have a question for you as well," I whispered, leaning against him gently.
"What is it?" he asked, looking down at me.
"Why are your eyes silver?" I was hesitant to ask, but I needed to know. He seemed hesitant to answer, as though he was afraid to tell me. I soon understood why.
"I'm a hunter. Not an ordinary hunter, though. I hunt demons and half demons," he replied, his eyes full of pain and sorrow. My eyes just widened as I gasped. "I knew you'd react this way," he said softly, loosening his grip on my waist.
"You...you know, then? You know I'm a mixed breed?" I asked, pushing the stop button on the elevator to keep us there.
"Yes, though I've never seen your type before. You might be the first demon and fairy mix in the world." Bet you didn't see that one coming. Now you know. Nysa Le is a mix, demon and fairy no less. That, perhaps, was the strangest combination around. "Nysa, I'm not here to kill you. I hope you don't think that," his voice shook me from my thoughts. Apparently, I had backed away from him, causing his worry.
"No, I actually hadn't though about that at all."
"Good, since I was sent to protect you. Your demonic father has already killed your mother, and he's vowed to come after you." I gasped, staring at him. My father? Coming after me? I didn't even know him! I've lived on my own since I can remember. Now some power crazy a*****e wants me, his own daughter, dead?!
By this time, I guess I had backed away from him to the other side of the elevator. I fully collapsed, him too late to catch me this time. He carefully lifted me up into his arms, my own wrapping around him tightly.
"It's alright, Nysa. I won't let him come close to you. I would never let anyone hurt you," he whispered in my ear, the feeling of safety and security rushing back to me. He pushed the button, starting the elevator again. He stepped out once we reached my floor, heading to my room immediately. "I might take you to my place for a while, just to make sure you're safe." I nodded to his words, still clinging to him. I was really ecstatic to have the whole floor to myself at this point. It made things a lot easier, since there was a single door that had to be locked, and he seemed to unlock that on his own. How? I don't have a clue.
He carefully laid me down on my bed, so I had to let go of him, unfortunately. I loved being in his arms. I felt so safe and calm, like I was actually loved. He seemed to realize this and laid down next to me, wrapping an arm around my waist.
"Nysa, I have a question. Hold old are you?" he asked, looking at me curiously. I had to tell him the truth, not like it mattered if he knew.
"I'm 144 years old. I only look 18 though," I told him, now wondering why that was. "How old are you?"
"160, or 20 in human years," he replied calmly. "I'm a mix of fairy and angel. My father knew your mother well, and my mother has sworn to kill your father since they were much younger. When we heard the news that Lenora was killed, I was sent to track you down and protect you. Course, I thought you were much younger and not as beautiful as you are. I would like to take you to see my parents. They would probably enjoy seeing you."
"I'd like that a lot. I've never even met a full-blooded fairy. I never even met my own mother," I said, smiling brightly. ~~~~~ Well, that's all I have for now. Feel free to comment, maybe even help me with a title.
