Light shines through the window,
Though I don't feel it's warmth.
Birds sing outside my window,
Though I can't hear they're song.
Instead I feel darkness,
Hear darkness,
See darkness,
As it surrounds my being.
It takes a hold of my heart,
Taking control of my thoughts.
As my mind falls to shambles,
To the far locked away corners.
I feel the darkness creeping closer,
Trying to take a peek inside.
I can't let it see,
What it is I have to hide.
It's so dark and horrid,
It's to be only mine.
This darkness within me,
Mustn't merge with the darkness outside.
For if it were to succeed,
All my secret's the darkness would find.
My mind would shatter,
My mind would crumble.
All my secret's would no longer be mine.
The darkness would take them,
Twisting them,
Corrupting them,
Turning them into something worse.
All I would be able to do then,
Would be to retreat,
To what is left of my corroding mind.
