Mhm, well it took a week or so to get here but it was worth it, I have to say this has been my favorite eva model so far, it seemed harder then the others for some odd reason, no clue why though. Well on with the review then.
First up the box
Looks real sexy don't it? Different then the usual 01 model box and it was a bit more expensive too, and since I can't read japanese this leads me to think this was some sort of special edition or whatever, it had a lot of extra stuff in it too, but I'll cover that after. But it does look cool, sorry again for the bad image quality.
Inside the box: More parts then the average eva model. That would be because this model comes with a launch platform. And a ton of extra accesories.
Building it: Well it's like with any other eva model, you start with the legs then arms followed by torso and head. If you've built any other eva model then you know the dance. whoo limbs. Like the other eva models this one does have a few annoyances such as the rubber joint parts that go in the shoulders that make the black think pop out if not done right, I'm thinking of just trimming them next time, and the the fact if you screw up and put something on wrong you're pretty screwed to try and get parts split, but hopefully you're not absent minded enough to do that. However the model is still fun to build, modeled in five colours, listed in order of which is used most. Purple, Black, Orange, Green and Greyishblueishpurpleish.
The finished product:
As you can see the model it's self is well made as we could come to expect, the colours are faithful and the mobility is wonderful. Feet, knees, hips, waist, shoulders, wrists, head and spine all move. The only thing that hurts the poseability of the model would be the fact that like all eva models you can't bend the elbows for whatever awkward reason. Another issue with the model is the stickers. Granted this is a problem with ALL plastic models, it seems especially bad with this one. The stickers just don't seem to want to stay, especially the ones on the horn and shoulder fins. While this is an issue with all models, it's just a real pain for those who're terrible at painting. Like me...don't have a bloody artistic bone in my body. And of course the small stickers *cough*eyes*cough* are a pain in the a** to set properly. Bitching aside the model is...modeled well as you could come to expect and highly poseable and with many hands and weapons it's great. As seen in the picture and mentioned earlier the model comes with a launch platform as seen in the show which is GREAT because it offers a great way to be able to have your model stand easily and look cool doing so.
Extras: The model comes with a bunch of extra weapons and accessories.
Something I'm not sure of (I can't read japanese to tell you) what appears to be two battery packs, what looks to be a rocket launcher of sorts, an N2 mine (something that none of the other models have), progressive(sp?) knife, the rifle used so often in the show, two swords and two things that I'm not sure if they're some sword of sword or gun. It's quite confusing to be honest it could go either way. However, best of all (in my opinion) is....
THE TRUE EVA UNIT 01 HEAD! As seen in episode 2 (might have been 3) though coloured in grey. The painting guide says to paint it brown, obviously. I wish it was modeled in brown though, but hey can't really complain as only douchebags b***h about extras. This more expensive version, whatever it is, is defiantly worth the extra price and the extras can be used for all eva models and maybe even some none eva models and is, again, worth it.
Score: 5/5 Totally awesome, the extras it has excel it beyond the other evas.
