The Glorious Misadventures of Hogwarts
The Glorious Misadventures of Hogwarts: Chapter 1
He was alone, always so alone. Alone in his life, alone in his family, alone even now within Hogwarts. He could feel the echo that followed him in his bones. A sigh rolled from his lips as he stopped. He lifted his head and tilted his neck to the side as he looked outside the ornate window. The moon was beautiful, one of the fullest he has seen within his short life. He slowly walked from the shadows of the hallway so he could fully look upon it. The moonlight was healthy to his skin, it brighten the otherwise pale flesh. Though the usual pigment was forever lost to him, he would never be like he was. “Why am I here? I really don’t see the point in being here.” He frowned a bit as he thought over his complaint. What did he really lose by being here? Sure, he missed out on events with his family, but he sure as hell didn't care. He for one was more than happy to be away from his family.

…But sadly even he knew the truth. He would never escape his family. He has seen what has come for those who thought they could ‘leave’ the Sagaro. It still pained him to think about it to this day, it was a wound that would still bleed to this very day. He sighed again, his own thoughts dampening his mood, and moved on with his travels. The school was like a maze and it was so easy to get lost within the place. He was still surprised that he could make it to his common room on time for curfew.

He stood before the bronze knocker, his dark orbs staring into the eyes of the eagle shaped metal. The beak of the bird opened and filled the wide towering staircase with its voice. I have seas but no water, coasts with no sand, towns but no people, mountains but no land… What am I? The riddles were the common theme for Ravenclaw house. Their founder, Rowena Ravenclaw, was a real stickler for logic. He cleared his throat before he spoke up. “You are a map,” he said. The eagle closed it beak and swung inward, revealing the walkway that lead to the common room. It was packed this evening, much of the students having their nightly studies before the morning and another day of classes. The light chatter ceased once he stepped through however, all eyes directed at him. He growled as his face pulled back into a grimace. He was tired of being judged by others. Not even his family judge him like these meat bags did.

He walked over to a plump high back armchair in a corner that he had silently claimed as his own. No one sat in his chair; no one spoke to him while he was there. It was turned so it faced the window, the view of the grounds his prime companion. He left his school bag by his feet as he sighed happily and began to reset the board for his game of Wizard’s Chess. It was familiar game for him. His father taught and trained him in a young age of how to play regular muggle chess. He found the game to be a lot more exciting to see the pieces move on their own, brutally killing one another upon a victory. “Pawn to e4,” He said quietly to himself as he leaned forward and stared out of the window. He didn’t need to look at the board, his mind mapped out everything in his head. He glanced over as the response came, as expected mind you, and smirked because he knew he would win this match up. “Queen to h5,” Upon his command the ivory piece hopped up and dash to her position.

His attention fluttered from the game, the commotion of the common room rising up a bit. It seemed as of some of the other eggheads had gotten into a heated debate about something or another. He didn’t really care as long as they didn’t get too loud with everything. He could only shake his head as he turned back to his game board. He had intentions to finish the match then and there, but something had occurred that he wasn’t aware of. He stared at the board in confusion as to why this irrational turn of events took place. “Replay the last movement.” He watched as the pieces returned to their original positions before he became distracted.

He looked up as he heard a light airy giggle, his eyebrow lifting in question. He stared hard at the spine of Unexplained Discoveries, vol. XIII. His face remained expressionless as the book shifted away, revealing what would be later a thing of beauty in the eyes of this peculiar Ravenclaw. She giggled once more as she gestured for the chessboard and the waiting pieces. “It is your turn, you know?” Her voice was as sweet as pumpkin juice. She didn’t hold the malice of the others, the fear that he didn’t deserve. He was silent as he looked over her face, his eyes capturing all he could about her soft features. “Pawn to d4” He picked his chair up so he could properly face his new opponent.

They played for a long time, each gaining the upper hand of the other countless times, but the ending had surprised the male. He was down to his last three pieces: a knight, a rook and his kings. He was cornered sadly, this blonde girl constantly assaulting him for every way she could. He leaned forward and placed a hand against his forehead as he focused on what to possibly do next. “Stuck? I could help you if you would like.” He frowned at the question for was in fact stuck, nothing he did would allow him victory, and it was either defeat or a draw. His Sagaro blood, the genes of a warrior and a tactician, did all him to draw and only an honorable defeat would be acceptable. “…Yes, I am.” He wasn’t one to turn down tutelage of another.

The girl leaned forward in her chair and smiled at him. “Well, tell me your name and I will tell you how to win.” He lifted an eyebrow up at this statement. Though he had been taught better manners in his youth, he had forgotten them in their game. He had forgotten about the entire world while playing. He took a moment to look around the common room, the silence that had been around now more present than ever. “My name is Sagaro Kenji… your's?” He asked as he turned to her again and met her gaze. She yawned, the back of her hand covering her small mouth. “Amalia. Amalia Scamander. Pleasure to meet you, Kenji.” Her tone was so inviting and pleasant, a much needed change from usually bullshit Kenji received on a day to day basis. “Now I will leave you with the answer to win this match!” She quickly hopped from her chair and moved closer to him. She bent over and whispered quickly into his ear, his eyes widening for a bit before he nodded. “I see…,” He said as she moved away, a hand lightly rubbing his chin. “Thank you Amalia, this is… eye-opening.” She only responded with a giggle and a smile before she gathered her things and skipped upstairs to the girl dormitory The late hour was calling for the rest needed for the long day of studies tomorrow, but Kenji could ignore the call.
