~*(Breaking Dawn)*~
wahmbulance SPOILER WARNING! wahmbulance

I have mixed feelings about Stephenie Meyer's Breaking Dawn novel. Personally, I loved it. It wasn't my favourite of the series, but I still loved it. However, there were parts that I found unlikely and unsatisfying.

I'm SO glad everyone (as far as main characters are concerned) survived, but it was... unrealistic. The Volturi brought EVERYONE with them all the way from Italy, to kill one random nobody. I understand she was a friend of the Cullen family, but she was only in the fourth novel, and only once, before she was killed. She was a nobody. Period. I might have even been completely satisfied if at least one Cullen was seriously injured (not necessarily killed).

But there was really no fight, and Bella's new-found strength and abilities were apparently enough to fend off several extremely experienced opponents, without a struggle. Maybe if she'd faltered for a second, she wouldn't seem so impossibly perfect - even for a vampire.

It didn't really bother me that she skipped the newborn craziness, because she was really well prepared mentally. But again, I felt there was something missing there... Probably that she managed to stop herself from killing a human the first time. I think the first time she was on the trail of a human, Edward should have had to stop her. Then the second time when she knew what to expect she could stop herself.

And I would have liked to hear more about Tanya and her family. They were just kind of... there. There was the one story about their mother, and that was it. I'm sure there's so much more to them than that. Hopefully, I'll be satisfied when Edward goes to live with them for a while in Midnight Sun.

But in the end I'm glad that Edward and Bella ended up together (though I do wonder how Nessie sleeps at night with her parents *ahem*.. not needing to sleep at night wink ), that they have a daughter with a mildly silly name (though, I think it's kind of cute, though I like Carlie better than Renesmee), and that Jacob imprinted and is happy as well. I'm glad I don't have to mourn the loss of any of the amazing characters that Meyer created, and the writing itself was as good as ever (though some plot points were lacking).

The wedding and honeymoon scenes were wonderful, as was Bella's first hunt (with the aforementioned exception). Though I did get mad at Bella for completely failing to comfort Edward after he felt like he hurt her during the honeymoon. I thought of 10+ things she could/should have said and didn't. I kind of wanted to slap her. xd

Oh, and as for Jacob's POV... I don't really know... I thought is was well written, and I see why it had to be done. It just seemed a bit off, after having three other books consistently from Bella's POV. It was nice to see things the way Jacob saw them, and I enjoyed reading his thoughts, but as I said, it was a bit weird for part of the story to be from someone else's POV. I'm totally Switzerland on that issue. Jacob's POV wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either.

One last thing. Bella giving birth was the goriest thing I have ever read. And for some reason, I still liked it a lot. I... yeah. Don't know why.

Those are just my thoughts. I think that's it for now. biggrin
