Cheshy's Ramblings
Hana
There was a nice breeze running through Kumogakure, ruffling hair and causing more than one girl to grab at their skirt as it threatened to billow up. People walked the streets, feeling safe with the knowledge that their Kage would keep them safe. Shops were bustling, a plethora of conversations drowned each other out and children happily played with each other or their pets. It was a peaceful, idyllic day.

It was enough to make Hana sick. These people did nothing to protect themselves, gave no support to the shinobi who put their necks on the line again and again to protect their worthless hides. The girl, just a teen, was as yet too naive to understand that these people worked the land, provided food or services in exchange for that protection. Either that, or she just didn't care.

She was perched atop one of the many lightpoles that lined the streets of Kumo, her vibrant, emerald hued eyes looking down at the common folk below. She was yet to have been assigned too a squad and, bored, she amused herself people watching. It was fun, watching the petty arguements that sprang up, watching people get frustrated from al the hustle and bustle. Most people wouldn't notice these things, but Hana actively looked for them. And, to her delight, something had caught her eye. A pickpocket.

Sharp eyes watched the somewhat clumsy thief as he picked out a target, seeming to idly brush against a well dressed man. Clutching something in his hands, he headed towards an alleyway, likely to check out the fruits of his labor. Grinning, Hana disappeared in a whirl of leaves, using Shunshin to appear behind the thief.

A kunai slipped from her pouch into her hand and, very deliberately, she reached around in front of the man to place the sharp blade at his throat. As she did so, there was a flicker of light where the sun hit the weapon. He'd frozen in place, shocked. Slowly, Hana pressed the blade against his throat. It pricked the skin, a trickle of blood running down the thief's neck. A chill would run down his spine as he felt the blade cut deeper. He would feel her tongue flick against his ear, hear her voice echo next to him in a raspy whisper. "You're weak. You're nothing but gutter trash if you need to steal to survive. Or perhaps you do it for the buzz...? Hm? You do, don't you? Well...let me see if I get the same buzz when I steal your life." Slowly, inexorably, she slid the kunai across the man's throat, a smirk on her lips as a spray of blood fountained into the alleyway.

The smirk was still on her face and, to be fair, she had drawn blood. But the thief would find himself kneeling in the entrance to the alleyway. His face was empty, his expression vapid. A trickle of blood was running down his neck and he was in shock, his body shivering, but other than that he was fine. He knelt there, muttering incoherently as Hana slipped the bloodied kunai away and bent down to pick up the man's wallet.

As she walked through the crowd to where the stolen wallet's owner was pawing over himself and looking all over the ground, thinking he'd dropped it, she opened it and slipped a small amount of ryu into her own pouch. The least he could do was buy her dinner. She'd had to go to some small effort to get it back for him.

As she reached his side, she held out the wallet. Perhaps the cruel smirk at her punishment of the would be thief still lingered or perhaps he was just taken aback by the slip of a kunoichi who stood before him, but the man could only stutter a quick thank you before moving away from her. Shrugging, losing interest either way, she leaped from the crowd and returned to her perch.
