Chapter 1
"Somebody please, I've been attacked!!" a girl screamed as she entered the police station. I blinked as she made herself to the front desk and Officer Stanley looked down at her. She looked like a total mess; her long red hair was messy and she had darker patches in it, she was holding her neck and she had frightened green eyes. Officer Stanley sighed.
"Ma'am what did you take tonight?" he asked smoothly and I edged closer. The girl glared at him.
"You think I'm taking drugs. I'm not!!" she growled. "I was attacked!" I looked at her eyes for any sign of dilation and besides the obvious fear there I didn't see anything abnormal. I watched Officer Stanley run a hand through his overgrown crew cut hair.
"Ma'am why don't you come back here with Elle for abit and she'll talk to you about what happened alright?" The girl nodded and his dark brown eyes met my powder blue ones and I nodded. I walked through the swing gate that stated "Employees only" and retrieved the frightened girl. She stumbled into the back with me and I had her sit on one of the benches in my temporary office across from my desk.
"May I ask your name?" I asked gently and she took in a deep breath. I sat on the edge of my desk.
"My name's Melony." she stated and I realized her hand still clasped on her neck and the blood on her fingers.
"Melony, are you hurt?" I asked softly standing back up and her eyes shifted to her bloodied hand and she nodded. I walked towards her and lightly put my hand over hers feeling uneasy at the slick liquid under my hand. She let me pull it away from her neck and I took notice of the gashes on her neck. There were two large gashes and one small hole in between them. I knew my eyes widened as I put her hand back over the wound. "Make sure to keep the pressure on it alright. I'm going to see whether or not we can get you some medical attention." I uttered heading for the door and Officer Stanley until she started to cry. I turned back to her to see her bawling,sobs choking her up.
"I didn't do this to myself, I swear." She sobbed and I suddenly felt sorry for her. Though I did have to ask to keep her in the records.
" Then what did?" I asked softly trying not to seem rude. She glanced my way with hazy green eyes.
" A vampire." she sobbed and her whole body shook. I shuddered feeling ice slide across my spine. I gave her one last look before going to find Dean, our medical hand here at the Police Station. I finally found him and as I told him about the girl he rushed off to help her. I went to Officer Stanley who was nonchalantly sipping a Starbuck's coffee. He stared at me intensely as if asking me if she was a head case. I shrugged and he went back to drinking his coffee. I thought it would be better if I kept the last part confidential. I mean Melony seemed like a nice girl maybe she'd just confused a person who'd helped her with a vampire and maybe she'd been attacked by a feral dog. I sighed and began to pull out a folder to take notes on her until a guy came up to the desk; skipping Officer Stanley and speaking straight to me.
"Excuse me, did my sister come in here?" he asked worriedly and I scrutinized him. He had layered mahogany hair, pale green eyes and he was generally tall. I bit my lip.
"Is your sister's name Melony?" I asked cautiously and his eyes brightened.
"Yeah, is she here?" he asked frantic. I looked to Officer Stanley and he shrugged. I nodded at the boy and went to retrieve Melony. Dean had wrapped her neck and put a thick bandage over her wounds. The boy looked shocked at her appearance as we came back up front. Melony wasn't walking normally and was leaning on me and it kind of frightened me.
" You should take her to the hospital, she's lost alot of blood." I muttered and he nodded taking her from me. He gave a faint smile.
"Thanks." he murmured as they both walked out the door. I looked down at my hands as they left and shuddered; there was so much blood.
