Yugi lied under the covers of his bed sheets during the middle of the night. He was curled around and constricted himself within the sheets suffering from a nightmare that had occurred night after night. It was amazing that he continue to fall asleep at all after these hideous images, one after another. The young teenagers eyebrows furrowed with discomfort, tossing and turning continuously in a seemingly endless cycle.
The young teen ran, and ran. In the pitch black of darkness he ran down the path to nowhere, and down that path to nowhere there was an unreachable light that he could never get to. He held his small hand out and gasped for a breath of air. He tried to capture the light within his palm only to find that it escaped his reach and disappeared leaving him alone in the dark. He ran onward only to trip moments later over his own feet. Clashing onto the ground by mistake he landed on his stomach and lied on the ground motionless. A few moments later Yugi’s dark, large violet hues frantically searched for something to cling to, to save him from this darkness. Tonight’s dream was different from the last few. It was much more secluded than the ones before. The temperature dropped dramatically to a freezing point of thirty-two degrees Fahrenheit. Yugi tightly clutched his arms and started to shake.
“Is anybody there?” He called out wanting to know if he was truly alone. “Hello! Atem are you there?”. Not even the sprit of the Millennium Puzzle was here. That caused Yugi to worry. Usually the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle was always with him unless something bad happened to Yugi, or Atem, or the both of them. Yugi sat up from the ground with his legs folded under him. He examined himself to see if there was something physically wrong with him, but there was nothing. He gasped and stared around again.
“ATEM!” Still nothing happened.
The darkness had no boundaries. It had no walls and it was repetitive for hours or what seemed like hours to him. Yugi roamed for a profoundly long time. But he still had hope, and he wouldn’t give into the darkness. Never would he submit to it no matter what the cause or situation was. After some moments passed by there was a sinister chuckle that echoed through the darkness and echoed as if it came from a speakerphone. Yugi froze in terror unable to move from his spot. Something about the voice seemed all too familiar. “Atem is that you?” He asked in a shaken voice.
It was suddenly that a larger form stepped from the darkness. It was none other than the Yami of the ancient Millennium Puzzle. He looked freakishly wicked, as if he wasn’t himself. Inching toward Yugi the dark form chuckled again and circled him as if it the shorter one was the prey.
“Hello, Yugi. Did I…FRIGHTEN YOU?!” His eyes glowed red and his hand shot out at him at an incredible speed.
Yugi jumped from his sheets and onto the ground. He heaved heavily and shook with fear. What just happened? Something was definitely peculiar about his dream. With droplets of sweat and fear stricken eyes his violet hues traced down to the puzzle that was still on the bed. There it was, emitting a horrifying black stream from its core. No longer retaining its former golden shine.
“Something’s really wrong here.” Yugi stated in a soft voice.
