I’ve got class in 40 minutes, but it’s cool. Life has been looking moderately good lately. I feel like acting like a Christian and falling to my knees in thanks, but that wouldn’t entirely work for me razz
I’m doing well in all of my classes so far. The only real source of grief is my digital photography class. The actual work isn’t that hard. It’s just getting into a situation where the work is possible that’s difficult. For example, my last project was silhouettes. I’m either a: unconscious or b: in school during the time when natural silhouettes occur. So I was in a tight spot for that one and ended up cheating a LOT to get it done (lots and lots of shooping). It turned out great, though. But Mariani is pretty strict about attendance, which I think is ok except for one thing. She knew I was there. I had seen her before class and she knew I was waiting for my print to come out, but she marked me absent anyway. And, despite being absent, I was able to present. How does someone who is not present manage to PRESENT their project? The logic of it doesn’t exist. So that bothers me, but oh well, I burned the bridge in anger and now I have resigned to just build it over again, better than last time razz
Survey of Media is going great. Simeon is cool as hell, and our “midterm” was today, which just meant we had to turn in a one-page article response and our drafts for our S.W.O.T. and Vision statements. Then for finals we have the same thing, only with the final version of our S.W.O.T. and Vision statements. I designed mine to be in the same document. I’m making a folding pamphlet, like a brochure, so I’ve got a cover, Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats, and a Vision statement panel. Works out quite perfectly. I’ve got the layout 90% done or so, which only leaves the actual assembly of the finished designs, fonts, and inclusion of the descriptions.
Principles of Communications is tedious, but easy. I have over 100% in the class, so I’m pretty happy overall :3 It’s nothing but powerpoints and stand-up presentations, and even though the teacher is scatter-brained at times, it’s all good.
Then finally is my Game Design and Gameplay class. It’s amazing, hands down, bar none. We play board games, card games, and watch demos and hold discussions about different games. Then we got to actually design and make and beta-test games (non-digital ones), and we’re having our final presentation of those individual games this week as our midterm. I’m almost done assembling the full thing, though I have some photo-documentation I still have to put together and I’d like to graphically record the results of my beta surveys to include with it :3
As for next quarter, I’m looking at 5 classes, 16 credits, and 11 weeks. I’ll be in class from 6-10 Monday night, then from 8-12, 1-5, and 6-10 Tuesday. Then I have Wednesdays with no class, so I can recover from my four-in-a-row classes, and have one class Thursday night, 6-10. My advisor was like “Are you sure you’ll be able to handle that many classes?” I’m pretty sure I can. If I can’t, I’ll know during Add/Drop week and I’ll let one of them go. But I’m really rooting for myself to pull and overhaul god-quarter again XD
Then… METROCON! It’s in like, six weeks, and I don’t have any special cosplays or anything, but I still have my Lolita and I’m going to finish up my fantasy steam punk dress, along with Daniel’s and I swear I’m going to soup one up for Candy, too!! She deserves something special to wear :3 Now, while the Embassy is fully-booked, the Sheraton IS NOT! Metro has officially contracted with the Sheraton and it’s only $99 A NIGHT! I plan on going with Daniel, Cayla, Niza, Candy, Roxas, and Mike, and whoever else wants to cram into the room, which brings the cost for the hotel to UNDER $35 PER PERSON FOR BOTH NIGHTS! Add to that the fact that we’re getting lots of free admissions… and this is shaping up to be a pretty cheap and amazing Metrocon!
Now, I still have my issue of paying the court fees ($225), so I’ve been trying to pimp the hell out of myself as much as possible. Luckily, I’ve managed to sell two things on Amazon that will give me about $30, and I’m 99% done with a $54 commission for Saku on Animemetro. That’s $84 towards the $225 already, so I’m really excited about that, and the $35 for the hotel at Metro is a special event that I could probably dip into my savings for if absolutely necessary =X
David might might might might MIGHT be coming to Metro, and I’d really love it if he did, but my summer vacation is also a little up-in-the-air right now. AJ invited me up to SC for a little while, but the only time that really overlaps with my break and his break is the week immediately after Metro. Then AJ heads to Germany for a vacation with his sister’s family. So… if David comes down for Metro, that would put me in a crappy spot of only getting to see him for the convention and then leaving him alone for a while down here while I accepted AJ’s invite, or forfeiting the invite to stay in Tampa. But, then again, David MIGHT be coming. Its not solid =/
Aha, now, enough about the present and future, what’s been going on lately in my not-school life? Well, there’s been some turbulence caused by the drama llama, but things have been mostly awesome. I got the commission, I’m doing good in class, I’ve been a lot more active and got my hands on some vitamins, Acai, and Omegas, and I’m feeling pretty good. I finally got a blender ($10 at Goodwill, can I get a “HELL YEAH!”?) so I’m really excited to get into smoothies, especially since it’s summer. Found out where I can get chicken instead of beef, for some healthier eating, and want to get more lettuce to do salads more often, too.
This past weekend was AJ’s mom’s birthday and Mother’s Day. AJ picked me up on the way down and took me to Bradenton for the weekend, and I had a great time. Bonnie rented a beach house for her birthday, so I got to FINALLY go to the beach again, swam in the Gulf, got covered in sand, and hung out with a lot of positive-energy church folk smile Not to mention all the delicious food! And the fact that everyone at the part thought I was AJ’s girlfriend! XD We didn’t do anything to dissuade that, either, since it works to his advantage and does me no harm :3
I also got to hang out with my sister (Amanda) for a while (who I haven’t seen in ages!) and got to meet her boyfriend, and dropped by Nicole’s place, where I also got to chill with Catherine and her BOYFRIEND!! CATHERINE’S GOT A BOYFRIEND!! And she snagged one hot hunk of manflesh, if I do say so myself X3 Mike also dropped by to see Nicole, and there was another couple there too, which made me feel a little lonely, but mostly it was just awesome seeing everyone again. Nicole bought me Subway, too, and it was deeeeeeleeeeeeshuuuussshhh! She wouldn’t let me pay for it =X Nicole is scary when you try to defy her kindness!! Fear her!! =O
So, well, that about brings me up to speed. This next week is shaping up to be pretty awesome, too, since it’s Tiffa’s birthday at the end of the week and she’s got a pretty awesome Saturday planned. Then tomorrow me and Tiffa don’t have class, so we’re thinking of having homework time and other productive stuff and then getting some stuff together to make nummy foods! She mentioned something about an almond cake *drools* and I want to put my new blender to use with some smoothies, so we are planning a trip to Walmart! She’s going to have her boyfriend John over, too, and he’s loads of fun, too :3
Anywho, I should get ready for class now XD
Happy entry is surprisingly happy! HA!
