Gomez
Bands: Blind Pilot , Gomez
Where : The Filmore , San Fransisco CA
When Thursday 7/30/09 7:00 PM

This was my first trip to the historic Filmore, a place where so many great artists have played. For my first time there I was allowed to listen to the musical talents of opening band Blind Pilot, and one of my favorite bands Gomez. I enjoyed and listened to a great concert that night.

The night started inside the Filmore with the opening band Blind Pilot. The band consisted of a total of 6 members. I was suprised by the choice of musical instruments whcich included a wooden bass, accordian, trumpet, and xhlophone, along with the guitar, bango, and classic drums. But the unique assortment proved to work together beautifully. I specially enjoyed the music and of coarse liked it so much I brought home their new CD (auto graphed of coarse).

Then the Filmore went from half full to full when Gomez took the stage. The band played as well as I saw them last time at the Shoreline the previous year. But unlike last time, there were the big band this time and played more music this time around including sveral of their old songs which included one of my favorite Whippin Picadilly. However they did not play some of my favorite songs however. But I learned later than all the songs they played that night would not be played next at their next nights shows. This explained wh several of their new songs were not played.

But none the less I left the show happy wearing my new Gomez shirt. I loved finally seeing Gomez as the main attraction, and enjoyed every minute that they played.

Another great concert.

Coldplay
Bands : Coldplay
Where : Shoreline Amphitheatre, Mountain View CA
When : Monday 7/13/09 7:30 PM

This was probally the best concert I have ever been to so far and I have been to quite a few concerts. Not only was Coldplay great musically when Live but they also were interesting and actually put on a SHOW rather than just sining songs. They were very interactive with the crowd, but didn't talk too much so that it became annoying. In fact whenever they talked it was usually describing a crowd activity they wanted us to do.

One such actuvuty was performing the wave but using our cell phones instead of our bodies. This and several other event kept the show interesting and a blast. I never sat down. Not once.

The show started off like the begining of their CD with the playing of Life in Technicolor. After this the next songs that included key event were the following:

During the song Yellow, Large yellow ballons were thrown about the large croud like beach balls. These eventually made there way to the stage. But as ballons poped they showered the crowd with yellow confetti.

During ever song howvere I found myself looking at the large screen more than the band. And I will be honost. The cariography of the big screen looked like a music video everytime and was very interesting.

Half way through the show Coldplay actually left the stage and played in the crowd on 2 platforms. The first platform they played on was in fact one that was only 5 or 6 rows infront of my own. There they played 3 songs and returned to the stage and played Viva La Vida.

Later they moved to a 2nd platform in the back crowd near the grass. Here the drummer played a song, and the band play a Micheal Jackson song in the memory of his passing. This is also when the crowd performed the cell phone wave.

After they returned to the stage the played a handful of more songs. The next act to stick out was the performance of Lovers In Japan. In this song the crowd was literally showered with tons or rainbow confetti in shapes of butterflies (as seen in the songs music video). This was the most amazing thing I have ever seen at a concert and it was amazing.

After the encore the band finished off the show with Life in Technicolor ii, letting us leave to the very same tune that we had walked into.

All in all the concert was a amazing and I beleive was worth its pricey tickets.
