An Act Of Heroism (what a hero means to me)
A hero is someone that you can look up to, someone that has truly made a difference in this world. Not just some famous person in history books, on television, or on the internet. But that one person in life that has truly made his or her mark in life, someone unselfish that has faced life and all its tragedy, and is still strong enough to overcome it, no matter how unfair or unforgiving this life is. A person, whether young or old that is brave at heart, loyal and noble, that considers others before their selves, sacrificing for the well-being of those around them, having to choose or make rational and drastic decisions that affect both their self and also the lives of others, their loved ones. My hero had to take on a lot for a young man, which no one should ever have to endure. My hero, who is now only 18 years old. He was only about 16, just turning 17 years old when I met him; he was caring for his cancer stricken mother as well as his four younger brothers. Day and night, meeting their every need. Every night he would stay up late and stay close to her just in case she needed him. Money was getting tight, with these circumstances he had to take on a part-time job to help his family with all their expenses (summer, when there was no school, he took on the job full time), all the while still staying in school. Most men over 18 cannot even fulfill one of these obligations in today’s society. No matter how hard it got or how much he was hurting, he pushed on, giving it his all. Taking his mom to all of her doctor appointments and any specialists that she needed. Making sure she has and gets all her medication, making her special drinks and shakes to help with her immune system, keeping up with her special diet and still cooking for himself and as well as his four younger brothers. He received legal guardianship over his brothers. Graciously honoring his mother and her last loving wishes. She passed away in June 2011 at 2:40 a.m., he was by her side. I know this must have been unbearable for him and his younger brothers to endure. He truly is a hero, the knight in shining armor, a rock, a true hero. A young man with so much integrity, family values, self-worth. Every man on earth could learn a thing or two from this young man. Even though I don’t think he truly knows it or understands just how special he truly is, he needs to be honored. Not just by me, but by the whole world. The whole world needs to know there are youth in this world that could still show us all a thing or two. I am a better person to know him and have him a part of my life. I am truly blessed and for this I give him a Pink heart, Mine (an honoring badge of my love and respect). The more I think about it, the real hidden hero here is his mother. For raising her boys to be this strong, loving and independent. Teaching them kindness and to respect others as well as themselves. Teaching them all right from wrong, she truly made them into little gentlemen. Even though I wasn’t privileged enough to meet her in life, I know I will one day. I still loved her as my own and she will forever be in my heart. Doing all the amazing things he does, he has also set himself up as a honorable role model for his four younger brothers (the only male role model that they have). The way he carries himself, his chin held up high, his shoulders back, and a tough spirit he shows. That anything is possible in life. Helping his brothers with homework or whatever they may need, playing games or watching a movie. I know his days and nights are exhausting, long and tedious, but he never complains, and with all he has to do and to take care of he always worries about me and my problems, and he seems to find time to spend with me. My hero shines like the brightest star in the sky, for if there was no other star in the sky his light would shine bright enough for the whole world to see. The expression- “Heaven On Earth”, he holds this true. Darren, My Hero Is You.
I GAVE HIM MY HEART ( ALL OF IT ) THE GOOD SIDE OF THIS I GOT AN A ON THE ESSAY.
