The small child pressed her face against the windowpane in a vain attempt to get a better look at the snowflakes dancing in the wind outside. She sighed heavily against the cool glass before slowly lifting her fingers to draw a small little pair of wings on the foggy window.

"If only," she murmured as she rested her head just above the drawn wings. Looking off into the dark night, she mumbled again, "If only..."

A small glitter to her right caught her eye. Leaning against the window, despite the cold, she squinted here tiny eyes as she peared into the distance.

'There it is again!' she thought in wonder.

And she was right. It most definitely happened again, but this time, the little girl noticed it grew bigger and bigger until she swore there was something just on the other side of the glass. Her small lips slowly parted as she stared in awe at a tiny little figure - no bigger than her hand! - resting on the large flower pot just outside the window. The little lady, she concluded, had the fairest skin she has ever seen and soft blue hair that shined like crystals. An almost unnoticable movement occured just behind her and the little girl's eyes widened in delight as she gazed at sparkling, silver wings.

That was only the beginning.
