My Short stories
Here you can read several of my short stories that i have written, i hope you enjoy them
Here is the final chapter in the Days From Here Story staring Ciel. The next part will be about a young british boy named Casper who lives on a small island off the coasts of England

Maybe it was just the way things went or the way things didn’t go. I never really expected my life to end up like it did after Arron went out of my daily life that year. Now its a year later in Junior year of high school and both Arron and I are no longer friends, class-mates, or a couple.
I still go to the same school with some of the same friends. Lizzy and I are still good friends but she’s Miss Popular at school. I guess you could say I’m the lonely one of the two; I sit with a few others that I know and I do my best to be social but it just doesn’t interest me very much.
My brother still lives with his now husband over in another part of New York being a big successful artist. I live in the apartment Arron and I had bought together, but now I’m all alone with no one to talk to at night. My family is still distant in most ways and you could say I am still thought of as the family genius for my writing.
The love life for me has been less than happy. I’ve been with plenty of other people over time but it was never like what Arron and I had. Arron and I had been honestly in love and we never thought the end would come, but when I caught him cheating on me that was the end of it all. Maybe thats why I am so lonely: I want so much out of the person to the point of being like Arron that I make it impossible to please me. It’s sorta funny though, I hate Arron and I don’t talk to him and yet I still search for someone just like him.

School doesn’t suck as much as before, I get average grades and most of the teachers like me. I’m one of the more mature people at school and I do my best to not get in trouble. Every time theres a big party I do my best to avoid it or stay away from the bad stuff there, I really don’t need something like alcohol and drugs written on my record when I go to college. Nothing really would change that in me since I really am determined to go on in life and have a good future in the world, so you could say I’m never gonna let myself become some homeless person on the streets.

Today was a pretty normal day, a Thursday, I went to school and learned some stuff about a war in social studies. I did an experiment in science and read a bit of a book in literature. Spent lunch with a few friends, talking about the latest things going on in the world, and continued with my classes as usual. In the halls I do my best to avoid Arron, he is about ten lockers from me so it gets a little shaky at times. But overall we avoid one another as to keep away any fights or un-wanted love that might spark up.
After school I drive back to the apartment and walk up the wooden steps leading to my apartment. 7B, my apartment, my place of living, my domain. The apartment is really nice, its new and clean most of the time. The floor is a dark, wide set wood, the walls range in color from white to red and a wall of windows lines the wall facing away from the door. Theres a kitchen loaded with shiny new appliances, a stone counter and sink in the center. My furniture is all pretty comfortable, brightly colored to match the house’s colors, and plants sit along a little balcony outside of the windows. My bedroom is like a normal one, a bed, desk, carpet, walls, windows, floor and ceiling. I’ve got a tv in the corner and my computer is on the desk, a few posters hang on the walls along with some artwork I’ve made or picked up over time. Then theres Arron’s old room which I now use as storage for whatever I don’t feel like seeing. Most of whats in there is his old stuff that Arron never took with him, all piled up in the corner of the room surrounded by extra furniture and items that no longer have a place. I’ve got a bathroom too, its nice and clean, with a shower and everything.
My neighbors are tolerable, most are quiet except for one couple living across the hall who like to have fun at night. So overall its ok, not perfect, not terrible, though living here does get really lonely overtime and sometimes I wish that I had someone to share this with.
I walked into my apartment, everything as it was and not a book or pillow out of place. My kitchen was all there, still shiny and nice. My furniture was all there, brightly colored to match the walls and all the plants were still sitting on the outside balcony. The floors were still dark and my ceiling still above me. My room was the same as always, one or two articles of clothing sat on the floor by my closet which I would clean up as soon as I got the chance. My posters and art still hung on the walls, my bed still sat there along with my desk, computer, and tv. All in all it was mine and the same, so in comparison I was the same, just older.
After making dinner, watching tv, doing my homework, and working a little on one of my stories I found myself laying in my bed watching the tv. I had long given up the habit of keeping my phone off so as to not listen to the local talk of my friends and family. So now every few minutes it would buzz on my nightstand and I would pick it up, read the text and type something back. Soon my digital clock read 11:26 and I decided it was best to just sleep and wait for whatever tomorrow was to bring. After a few minutes I was asleep, dreaming about something I wouldn’t remember in the morning.

When morning came I knew today was Friday, the day before Saturday and after Thursday. This particular Friday was rather special since today was the last day of school and summer break was to start the next day. I got up slowly and lazily as usual, making sure everything was in order before going to take a shower and get myself ready for the events at school. After showering in the warm water of my nice and clean shower I went to get dressed. Putting on my usual school uniform of dark blue shirt and tan pants, belt, tie, and shoes. I got myself a bowl of cereal and watched the tv, seeing that another disaster had struck the world last night or early today. Then something little caught my eye; one of my plants had fallen from the ledge of the balcony and was laying on the floor, the pot broken and dirt spread on the floor. I walked over and looked at it for a moment and wondered what had happened, I passed it off as some wind had blown it down and put it all to the side for later.
I got in my car, a nice blue car that wasn’t old or dirty in the least bit. I drove to my school, big and full as usual, except buzzing with happiness and excitement because of the day. I got out and walked in, seeing many of the same people I see everyday doing the same things. I meandered eventually to my locker, picking out the books I needed and putting away some stuff. I noticed Arron at his locker, he didn’t look at me, instead he seemed occupied with some random paper. I sighed a little and walked to class, sitting down in the same desk as I always did and began to listen to the teacher say things, yet I didn’t seem to hear them fully, I was distracted by something. But I didn’t really know what.

School was pretty busy, we turned in our books from the year and said goodbye to many of our friends. Many people weren’t here, already on their way to a vacation somewhere in the world with their family. I was still here though, I wasn’t going on some big trip to Hawaii or Japan. I just sat in class waiting for something out of place to catch my eye but nothing ever did, and I passed it off as just it being a special day, out of the norm of my life.

After school I said goodbye to Elizabeth who was heading to California for a month to visit her mom and uncle. I watched as Arron left, getting in his car and driving back to his home, the place I had spent so much time at so many summers ago. Then I sat down in my car, started it and began to drive home. The drive took forever, traffic was terrible of course and the fact that many schools were getting out for summer today didn’t make it any better. When I finally did get home everything seemed just the same, the floor, walls, furniture, kitchen, bathroom, my room, and Arron’s. I sat down on the couch and watched a little tv, more and more information about the disaster from earlier was showing up, saying it was so terrible, so shocking. I guess it really didn’t phase me since it didn’t affect me that much, so I just changed the channel to something else.
Then I stopped and turned, standing in the door of my room was my older brother Kane. Kane smiled and walked forward, he was tall and thin, his skin was tan and his short spiky blonde hair stood out. His eyes were still green and his face was still soft and well defined at the same time.
“What are you doing here?” I said, standing up and hugging him a little.
Kane and I hugged like two people who liked each other would since both of us were not afraid to be like that and since I hadn’t seen him in over three months.
“I hear you got out of school today, and I wanted to see my little brother before he does nothing for the rest of the summer.” He said sitting on the couch.
“I do plenty over the summer,” I said, sitting down in another chair.
“You haven’t done one interesting thing since you and Arron broke up.”
I was quiet for a moment and Kane noticed that he had stuck a bit of a sensitive spot.
“Anyway, I’m alone for the next month and am planning on flying out of the country to Paris and I happen to have an extra ticket with your name on it,” he was smiling the whole time he was speaking, making Kane look like such a fool.
“Your...serious?” I said, a little shocked and really excited.
“Yeah I’m serious, I’m not gonna let you just sit here and be lonely.”

So that was it, I was going to fly to Paris with my older brother Kane in a few days, then go to spend almost a full month in the city and a few surrounding areas while Kane did work at a gallery there. All this made me really glad that I had taken French as my foreign language in school.
I packed the day before the trip, taking my clothes and several other items of value with me, I also was going to bring my laptop which I couldn’t live without. I was also bringing some pictures of my friends with me, leaving the ones of Arron in his room with all the other things I never wanted to see again.
The night before Kane and I were to leave I once more was laying on my bed, the tv on in the corner and my phone buzzing with the texts of my friends. But I ignored both of them, instead I just stared out of the window, watching traffic go by and people walking up and down the well lit sidewalks of New York. I didn’t fall asleep until my clock read 1:24 A.M.
That morning I was all ready by about seven in the morning, having showered, eaten, and gotten dressed, and gone over everything in the house as before. Soon I heard a knock on the door, which of course was Kane waiting for me. I opened the door and there he stood, saying that we needed to go and that I was being slow. I couldn’t believe I was still used to hearing that since it was what he would always say when I still lived with him. Three minutes later I was going down the stairs, my suitcase behind me and Kane a few steps ahead. His car was waiting outside, a nice white car with a great interior to match. I put my suitcase in the trunk and jumped in the passenger seat, and we drove off towards the airport.
The airport was full of people, going every which way with suitcases and kids clearly having been awoken before the normal time. The line to get checked in an our tickets checked was long but it was moving pretty fast. After getting our stuff checked and luggage put onto the plane we waited to board the plane to Paris. In the meantime I was typing on my laptop.
“You are always on that thing aren’t you?” Kane said, sitting in the seat across from me in the waiting area.
“I don’t know, I never really noticed,” I said, still looking at the screen and my fingers still moving a mile a minute.
“Besides, your books never get published since your too young and those people at the publishing company just take advantage of you,” He said.
“I know that, but still, one day I will be old enough and my books will get published.” I said, ending our conversation.

Soon the call for our flight rang out and Kane and I got up and walked to the gate. The lady at the gate checked out tickets and we went down the long tunnel like thing that led to the huge airliner. Behind us were quite a few people as well as in front of us, giving me the impression that this was going to be a crowded flight into the city of light.
After taking our seats and listening to the flight attendant explain all the safety measures on board of the plane we waited for our take off. Apparently there were some flights ahead of us so Kane and I waited for our turn to take off. Except I was just so excited, I had always wanted to go to Paris and now I got my chance, and for a whole month! Soon we were beginning to take off, the roar of the huge jet’s engines made me all the more excited.

After a very long and tiring flight we landed just outside of Paris. The airport was totally full of people going this way and then that, I heard people speaking french as well as many other strange languages I couldn’t identify. Signs were everywhere, saying things in french and then sometimes in english, all in all this airport was much nicer compared to the one back home.
Kane and I got out luggage and went to rent a car, Kane had been here before and understood most of what to do so I just let him lead the way. Soon the two of us were on our way to the special apartment we were going to be staying in. Just driving that distance allowed me to see so much of the history that made Paris what it is, and I got some great ideas for my stories.
The house we were staying in was pretty good sized for something in Paris. There were three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. This would have been worth quite a bit in France and was surly luxurious in appearance. The walls were a clean and bright white, the furniture was all very modern and the room looked like something from the front of a furniture magazine. The kitchen was pretty great as well, the appliances were all stainless steel and the counters were granite. My room was already full of furniture and it looked pretty much like my dream room. The bathroom connected to my room was pretty futuristic in appearance, everything tile, metal, and glass.
“This place is so cool..” I said after looking around.
“Yeah, it’s meant for people like me, people who come to work at the museums and galleries,” Kane said, sitting down on the couch.
“So...what am I gonna do the whole time?” I asked, finally getting the oh-so-important question out in the open.
“Explore, have fun, not get in trouble,” Kane said.
“Awesome,” I responded before walking to my room, tired from the flight.

I slept the rest of that day since I hadn’t on the flight and when I woke up the next morning I found that Kane had already gone shopping and the fridge was full of good looking food. How ironic that I made myself cereal instead of making something out of the many french items lying in the fridge waiting to be used. But I sat down turned on the tv and instantly realized that what I was watching was all in french, true I had taken it for a long time but there was still stuff I didn’t understand.
Luckily I found some english channels that showed stuff I liked and I did my best to stand it. After finishing my dull little breakfast I decided to go out and look around the neighborhood. It seemed like a good idea since it was a bright sunny day out and people were all outside going about their business. I then got dressed, made myself look nice, and went out of the building making sure I had a key and my phone.
People were everywhere, doing everything, talking to each other in french and eating their light breakfasts. Many people were driving by in small cars, others were on bikes or little mopeds going down the streets. I passed several nice looking cafes and restaurants before walking into a small park where people were talking and walking about. This happened to be one of the few parks in Paris where you were allowed to be on the grass since Paris got so busy that if they allowed everyone to be on the grass there wouldn’t be any. I walked into a large square where a large fountain sat spewing water from the top. People sat on the edge of the fountain and around on the benches in the square.
I smiled a little as I looked around the park, vendors spoke to people as the passed by or as they bought things instead of yelling as vendors did in the streets of New York. People stopped to talk to each other on the streets, taking their time and enjoying the nice day where as in New York people just hurried along with their days. It was a nice change from the hustle and bustle of home to be in this quiet area of France and to just relax. Soon enough I was back in the park, sitting on a bench, watching people go by. Suddenly I had the weird urge to start typing, so I pulled my laptop from the messenger bag on my shoulder. This was where I kept stuff I was taking with me or my laptop, without it I felt off balance.
I began to type on my latest story, my words going on and on, word after word, telling a long story that just poured from my mind. I smiled at my work, knowing that it really was good, and I enjoyed being able to write in such a beautiful place. Unknown to me was that there was someone behind me, watching me type. A boy my age, interested in what I was doing.
About an hour later I decided to go home and do something else, I walked back to the apartment and stayed there for the rest of the day.

The next few days were great, and there came another day where I was sitting the square typing. What I still didn’t know was that the same boy as before was here again, sitting as little ways away, still watching me, possibly happy I was back. After typing for a long time, I stopped for a moment and stretched a little, my hands a little tired from typing at such a high rate. When I sat back down I heard a voice behind me. It was kind, soft, mysterious, and inquisitive.
“Your here a lot,” The voice said.
I jumped a little and turned around to see a boy behind me. He looked to be about my age, he had lightly tanned skin and a soft and somewhat thin face. His eyes were strong, bright blue, framed by his thin glasses and centered around his nose. His hair was medium in length, brown, and a little curly at the edges.
“Uh...” I said, a little freaked out.
“I see you here all the time, typing on your computer,” the boy said, not seeing how strange it was for me.
“Yeah I guess...” I said, thinking about how often I was actually here.
“I can tell your new here, since no one sits alone here, except me,” he said.
“Oh well yeah....I’m from New York...my brothers working at a art thing,” I said
“Hmm.....well for one you look lost and confused, like a missing dog.” He said.
I looked up at the comment, thinking of how odd it was.
“I would be happy to show you around a bit,” He offered.
I wasn’t to sure about it, being that I was in a new city and he was a total stranger, but it seemed as if he was so trusting and that I could actually trust him.
“I don’t know,” I said
“It’s fine, I’m not some thief, everyone needs someone to help them,” He said.
“Well I guess,” I said reluctantly.
The boy smiled and stood up.
“On y va” he said in french, meaning lets go. I stood up, and put my laptop away.

The two of us walked towards the exit of the park, the boy still seemed so strange and mysterious, yet I felt as if I could trust him.
“My name is Jade, I am from America as well, I moved here a while ago.” He said as we walked down a sidewalk next to the park.
“Oh...my name’s Ciel, I’m from New York..like I said,” I said nervously.
“Your name is french, careful with it or people will think you are.” Jade said.
He laughed a little and kept walking. There was just something about him I really began to like over time.
Jade led me all around the local areas, showing me the best places to eat or hangout, even some big historical things I hadn’t noticed before. Jade’s family was apparently from Washington D.C. and his parents were scientists working at a local lab. Jade seemed really cool, like he knew everything and could answer and question.
After a while I said bye and headed for the apartment, I was satisfied with my day, excited from what had happened. The next few days were pretty great as well, all spent with Jade showing me around the area and it’s surrounding suburbs.
“Nothing is really as great as being here,” I said.
“Yeah, but it gets a little old after a few years, you’ll see.” Jade said.
“Well, I’m only here for a few more weeks, my brother is only staying for a month or so,” I responded sadly.
“Oh, I see,” Jade said. I could see the sadness in his face and hear it in his voice, he clearly wanted me to stay and I felt as if Jade really was a good friend.
“But you can make the best out of it,” Jade said, trying to seem happy.
“You though I was staying,” I said, interrogating him a little.
“Well yeah, it stinks making new friends here and I never totally picked up the language,” he said, leaning against the sill of an arched window like formation.
Jade and I were inside a large building on his uncle’s property, which grew grapes and other foods. The sill was part of an old stone farm building that was out in the center of the fields, Jade had been showing me around it.
“I wish I could stay, but thats how it is I guess,” I said, sighing a little.
“Yeah...so do I,” he said, giving me a look that made me blush without noticing. It was the kind of look Arron used to give me when we would sit in the apartment and watch tv, when he wanted me to kiss him or something.
“I...uh,”
“Ciel your not like other people, you like to take your time huh?” Jade said.
I glanced at him a little, I was looking down at the old stone floor before that.
“Your not the kind of person who would just do things because they can, but instead because they have a reason to.”
I didn’t really get what he meant and it felt weird having him talk like that to me.
“Well...” I said.
“Ciel?” He said.
“Yeah?”
“Do you like me?” Jade asked.
“What do you mean?”
“Do you like me, do you want to love me?” He asked.
I just looked at Jade for a long time, my face was red. I wasn’t sure about all this, my heart had been broken by Arron already and I would leave Paris in less than a month, I wasn’t sure about being in love with someone.
“I...I...yeah.” When I said this Jade hugged me tightly, it felt good, warm, like I was happy again like I was with Arron. I then wrapped my arms softly and loosely around Jade, still wary of being in love with someone.

Jade and I spent a lot more time together, going places and doing all sorts of things. We went out on the river, past Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower. We went to the many quiet places of Paris and talked about our lives in America.
One day I was with Jade out in his farm land, we were alone since his parents were at work and his uncle was doing something in town. We went inside since it began to rain, and sat on the couch together.
“I really like being with you,” Jade said.
“I like being with you too,” I said back.
“It’s weird.”
“What?”
“Being with another guy, I always saw guys with girls and stuff, and guys with other guys were never really liked.” He said.
“Oh..”
“But I don’t care, cause I really like you,” Jade said.

The whole time I could feel my heart beating faster and faster, my face getting a little red. Jade kissed me lightly on the cheek and I blushed a bit.
“You always act like your scared to even love me,” Jade said.
“Well, I’m just scared of falling in love and then having to leave you,” I said finally.

That day ended right about then. I went back to the apartment and Jade stayed at his house. The two of us didn’t talk for another three days. The worst part of it all was that I was leaving in a few days, and coming back would be hard to do the way things were going.
The rest of the story isn’t very interesting, nothing big happened and nothing really changed. When the day came for Kane and I to leave I found myself looking at the apartment that had been my home for the last month. It looked pretty much the same, we had put everything back the best we could and the two of us had already packed our suit cases.
Kane and I got into his car and drove to the airport. I sat there in the passenger seat, watching the city go by as we drove to our final departure from France. I was going to miss it all, the nice people, the old buildings, sitting in the park and just writing my heart out. I even felt as if I would miss Jade more than anything, it was nice to have felt loved for the time being.
About half an hour later I was sitting in my seat on the plane, waiting for it to take off to New York. Kane was next to me, he looked over at me and sighed.
“Your gonna be fine,” he said, doing his best to make me feel better.
“Whatever,” I said in response, I crossed my arms and closed my eyes, hoping that when I opened them I would be laying in my bed at home knowing everything that had happened was just some incredible dream.
“Stop acting like such an idiot,” Kane said finally, annoyed with my opposing feelings towards his help.
But soon the plane was off the ground and flying high through the air over the ocean that separated the U.S and Europe. It was a seemingly smooth flight, nothing was really wrong and all that was coming was a small storm. I was still awake, looking at the blank document on my laptop screen. All that was there was the flashing little mark where your letters are marked. I didn’t know how to start it, how to finish it, I didn’t even know what it was going to be about. I looked out the small plane window and store out over the dim ocean that seemed to just go on forever into the sunset. How sad and lonely I felt, how destroyed and hated I must have made Jade feel. My thoughts must have drowned out what happened in the next few moments, for when I came into reality I saw people rushing about and the plane shaking. The captain was speaking but I couldn’t make out his words even though it was perfect english. I really didn’t know how to react, be scared, terrified, happy, confused? Nothing came to my mind until it felt like my entire body was being dragged down.
The plane was falling, the engines had failed by some means and we were in the middle of the ocean. Suddenly my world slowed and I was looking at my computer screen, I began to slowly type on it. Word after word played out onto the screen, word after word made its way into the document from my fingers. When I was done I had the perfect beginning, middle, and end.
Life Starts, Nothing, Life Goes on, Something, A purpose, something I know, Is Days From Here.
Before I could even begin to feel scared the falling feeling stopped and the feeling of total and incredible fear took over. The plane suddenly struck the water with a massive smash, the wings were torn away and a long scar was left where one had been. Though there was not that much water, in fact it seemed as if I could actually see the bottom. My seat belt had been pulled off by some means and I was now standing in shallow water in the plane. People were all around me, I heard crying, talking, whispering. I then looked outside and saw a small island in the distance, covered in trees and plants. I guess I was the only one with any real feeling of strength at the moment because soon I was walking through the clear and shallow water towards the island. My laptop in hand with that sentence on it. Nothing felt so good as to be free like this, and now that the words I had written were real I felt better about everything that had happened before. Aaron was a distant memory, Jade wasn’t something hanging on me like a bad lie.
I guess in a way you could say that this summer my life was anything than ordinary and nothing but the same as usual. My past was behind me and nothing was going to change what I was now. So yeah, it’s true, purpose is there. Its Just a Few Days From Here.
