Chapter 1: Unconscious Power
The young elf awoke with a start. He looked around, very unsure of the unfamiliar surroundings. It was a white room; a wooden boarder stretched the whole length of the wall, intricate designs strangling the boarder. The only color that was bidden in the fairly large room was the dark red curtains that tried to smother the daylight out of the room.
He had no idea what he was doing inside of this room, all that he knew is that he should have been outside doing something, not sitting his bum in a damn room all day. Yet, at that moment, a rather strange thought hit him. “Who the hell am I?” he wondered aloud.
Right as he got up from his straw mattress, the mediocre- sized birch door meekly creek open. A young human women stood there in the doorway, as the light filtered through the small crack that she left herself for finding her way to the curtains, she saw the tall silhouette of the elf. And it seemed to him, that a strange look was in her eyes: shock and fear and hope all screwed up into one jumble. She hurriedly backed up to the door’s safe exit. ‘ What the hell is the monster doing up?? He should be in that horrible sleep that he was brought here in!!’ her hurried brain told her. And then a deep, faint voice broke this stereotype altogether.
“Where am I” said the voice of the elf, “And what am I doing here??” he looked at her, the purest form of innocence in the green eyes that stared at her. This was defiantly not the stare of a ‘monster’.
“Umm…” she pondered, wondering if she had the authority to tell this person, fixing her white dress, the cresses obeying her hands, and turning into a straight dress.
“Your name is Shadowmeire. At least that is what your dog tag said when you were delivered here.” She said finally, deciding that he had the right to know what his own name was.
“ And where is ‘here’?” he retorted flatly
“ “Here’ is at Nimloth Hospital in the Talus Peaks” she said, becoming almost annoyed. “And I have to go, the doctor will be in to see you in a few hours” she said, walking out the crack of the door, much calmer than she walked in. After awhile Shadowmeire dozed into a deep sleep.

Legions of evil seemed to spring forth upon the battlefield. The undead, the twisted, manifestations of hatred, terror, and destruction surrounded a small militia. The smells of sweat, and blood, and carnage seemed to strangle any real air that could be inhaled. The charging forces quickly overwhelmed Shadowmeire’s small company. And then, there was a guttural sound, like a deep, beating bark that his ears were intently focused on: he knew what it was, even without the use of his eyes, after all, he despised that race of creature more than any thing else in the world…

Shadowmeire awoke to an oil lantern; sweat dripping down his chin, while two pale circles attached to a crooked nose stared eerily at him. The nose was attached to a thin face, with a pair of baggy eyes that had been missing their lids for quite some time.

A concentrated mouth told him that this was the doctor that he was promised by the nurse several hours ago. “You were in quite a disturbed sleep just now” he said
