What do you do?
You keep seeing friends around you, and you keep seeing lives much worse than yours, but there's nothing you can do. You look at what they say, what they write, and you feel so grateful to them for being your friend. And then, when they're going through bad times and want to just give up on everything, you can't do anything to help them. You can't even help yourself. You just want to cry, and cry, and cry.
Maybe you haven't seen them in a while. You call them. They don't answer. You wonder if you should call again, but you don't, because even if you did, you don't know what you would say to them. You just want to hear their voice. Maybe it's as a certain selfish reassurance, to hear them talk cheerfully and then tell yourself that everything is okay with them, even when you know they're good at hiding things. Maybe you want to let them know that you'll be there for them, even though you know that you can't do anything.
It's mainly for yourself, though, isn't it? You just want to stop being useless. You just want to help them in any way you can.
But what do you do?
People always say just "being there for them" is enough, but that's not true. Not always. Sure, sometimes, I'm sure not being alone helps them. Even so, a lot of the time they need something more.
You have your own worries, but they don't seem to matter, because they have a life so much worse than yours, and even when your mom and dad get a divorce it doesn't matter. Even when your mom says she's getting remarried. Even when she adds that you'll be moving in with them, and you decidedly hate her new husband, but can't bear to say it.
What the hell do I do?

I just realized I have a weird habit of putting on leg on my chair and putting my shirt over it. o.O Never really noticed it before.

"Hey Amy, why aren't you wearing your orange polo shirt today?"
"I woke up at 5, feeling like crap, so I forgot it."
"Why'd you wake up at 5?"
"I had to serve 6:30 AM mass."
...this conversation was repeated about 10 times yesterday, until my friend had memorized it and could answer for me.
Sometimes I really hate people.
