domokun Thrillers ???? ...
It's quite a huge phenomena today especially in book stores and in movie theatres... You can find this kind of stuff everywhere. We've all already seen "The Silence of the Lambs", heard about Jack the Ripper,... etc... wink
Personnaly I've always loved this kind of writing... I'm trying myself to write novels but there's still a lot of work in order to improve the way I write and the strories I made. sweatdrop But that's not the main point of my subject.
By the way I'm interested in such works cause it's just about everyday life that we tend not to notice... I'm not saying that the world's invaded by psychopaths. But I mean the stories we read in books are just the theatrical and romanced version of what you can find at the end section of your newspaper. I remind of 1 book that I bought 2 yrs ago... It was about the murders of protistute women that occured near the train station... And well the same kind of event happened few years before the book was written. Another one which deals with dead corpses with hands tied behind in the back and no head... The police found 3 of these same kind of corpses near the river 2 yrs before the book was published. Have you ever read MPD Psycho (famous and strange though manga) well eventhough it's a comic, the murders that are shown were probably, well surely, committed before...
What about the fact that some mentaly disturbed people try to copy what they read or saw in a movie ??? I mean should we prohibit these kind of books and movies cause because it would create more violence. Or is it a form to exorcice our Thanatos side that everyone has ??? Or do the authors (often former criminologists and profilers) just want us to open our eyes and prevent us from the dark side and cruelty that we all have ????
Maybe I'll try to do some more researches about this theme (well there are far more to say about it but it would take too much time). It's just that we already know about the effective impact of such books and films on people's mind and way of acting... The environment too as well as people's relatives...
I think that we're all natural born bad (like in the film from Oliver Stone with Woody Harrelson) but do these kind of stuff awake our killer instinct ??? Media are kind a hypnotic message for us poor sleepy brains in front of our TV... sweatdrop
That is the question. scream
Pleaz if you have any comment about about this, do not hesitate to PM (only serious opinion pleaz) or leave a message on my BUMP thread (I'll read it for sure I check the thread twice per week). I would appreciate to hear about your opinion about mass and mediatized thrillers surprised
