CUTTING THROUGH THE RELIGIOUS CRAP
A Jew enlightening Christians on what they SHOULD know about their religion.
AAAAAARGH!

Once more I've read utter crap about Judaism, Christianity, the Old Tesstament, and what people and practices should or should not be condemned. So much ignorance, No understanding of the way things work. That's to be expected from people who don't know God but this is from those who SHOULD know better.

Maybe you have to be Jewish or something to put it all together.

I see Christians bashing gays and I want to scream "LEAVE THE PEOPLE ALONE - NO-ONE TOLD YOU TO FIGHT PEOPLE"

Does it matter what anyone has done, since you are supposed to be fighting the ones who deceive them and lead them astray?

The fight is against 'Principalities, rulers .... in the HEAVENLY realm' NOT their puppets.

Okay, we all like to point out what we see as errors in others' arguments, especially religious ones, but PLEASE let's do it from a viewpoint of understanding.

Should Christians take the Old Testament literally? NO.

It has two purposes. One - it is a history of the Jewish people and their dealings with God and those around them, Two - it uses all that as an allegory or shadow of what is to come in the later 'Church' (and by that I don't mean a building or denomination). I mean a body of people all doing what God told them to do.

THERE IS NOTHING IN THE NEW TESTAMENT THAT WAS NOT FIRST SHOWN IN THE OLD.

The New Testament is supposed to be the fulfillment of God's plans as laid out and demonstrated by the Jews in the Old Testament.

Only those things which demonstrate God's nature and power and how mankind relates to those, things which foreshadow redemption and future events are in there (barring the scriptures which deal with ancient heavenly battles and the way the spirits work).

Every verse has two meanings, one for then and one for now. To view the Bible as just a collection of dos and donts or cute and interesting stories is to miss the whole point of it. It is showing you how to live with God and have Him on your side to make a difference in the world, not how to alienate people.

Phinehas 'stood in the gap' between sinful Israel and God so that He wouldn't destroy them, and it was counted to him as righteousness. He stopped the plague.

It didn't say that he took a verbal baseball bat to the sinful people and was righteous. If you think these people you condemn are sinners why aren't you pleading for them so that God doesn't have to bring judgement on them? You think God WANTS to bring judgement? If He did, why would He be 'looking for someone to stand in the gap to give Him a reason not to?

Let law enforcement deal with physical wrongdoing, your call is to enforce SPIRITUAL law on SPIRITUAL beings and to shield those who might come under God's judgement.

There's so little time left - you need to GET IT RIGHT and not be part of the problem.

.....to be continued
