(everything is still subject to change, Goldenwood is a Manna Moody™ creation)GOLDENWOOD: surrounded by
Mana's Hand (where our story takes place), Harpy's Claw, Pidgeon's Stick, Bluewood and Silverspring.
Surrounded by woods, lakes and ponds. Goldenwood's connected to a good main road.
In the olden days, Goldenwood was a heathen village, believing in and worshipping a mythical, angel-like race (harpies), led by a queen, Mana. As such, Christianity never found a real footing in the village, however, a few churches may be found.
Mana's Hand: A small village on the outskirts of Goldenwood. It has its own public elementary and high school, an adequate healthcare facility (however, for urgent medical care for serious trauma, there is a hospital in Goldenwood), a town centre with a bakery, butcher, a greengrocer, a pub (which also serves as a snackbar/restaurant), a library, a fitness-centre (used by the schools to teach physical education, among other things), a florist, a post-office, a bank and a grocerystore. The local (herb-based) drugstore is run by
Mrs Su (mother of
Nova Su) in her home, and the locals know where to find her to treat minor aches, ailments and wounds.
It has limited outgoing facilities, but
Mana's Hand does have its own small cinema and a gawky disco (however, it's rather run down and neglected by the commune, only small groups of teenagers, like gangs, go there now). There are no hotels, but if you look hard enough you can find the odd inn or pub with vacant rooms.
Mana's Hand has no real defining features, or tourist attractions, and as such, the village consists mostly of an older generation and a younger generation, the middle working class having moved to Goldenwood, and most people who grow up in the village will move away as soon as they have finished high school and seek to start college or university.
It is worth noting that
Mana's Hand used to be the center of the heathen harpy religion, however, most of the history and evidence of the religion have been hidden or disappeared with the coming of Christianity. Some of the old festivals are still being held in the village, but the true origin and meaning of Wethese festivals are unknown to most.
Mana's Hand Public Elementary and High School:St. Gerrit Primary School: A small, primary school with 250 students at max. The school borders a road, behind which is a lake which seperates the primary from the high school, Silvergull College.
Silvergull College: A decently sized high school (3 storeys high) with room for 500 to 600 students. Looks out on a lake and the primary school on the other side. The town centre (and the fitness-centre and library) is a small walk away from the school, and a small petting zoo a 10 minute walk away. Silvergull College is like any other college, with the exception being that it has a private, 'elite' class, where one can only apply for if under 'special circumstances' (which currently holds 12 students, 8 boys and 4 girls).
Classes last 45 minutes each, there are two breaks in a day which last 30 minutes. School ends at 15.00 each day. When classes are cancelled, students are allowed to go home (but expected to use their time for study).
