Rants
Vermonster (Hands off! Fanfiction)

*cough cough* Yeah, wrote this about a year ago, and thought I might as well put it here... It's not like anyone reads my journal anyway. *[insert evil laughter here]* Thus, I'm too lazy to change it much other than spelling errors and whatnot... So if it sucks, oh well.

Summary: Kotarou hears about a quick way to get cash, which is to get a Vermonster, a huge bucket filled with ice cream. However, it wasn't as easy as he first thought.

"C'mon kid, you gotta be kiddin'," Yuuto said, him doing the best he could to supress a laugh as he watched the blonde in front of him pout.

"It's the only way I would be able to get enough money to pay for Mio's birthday present," Kotarou persisted, his hands now dropping to the side defeated. "The cash that I get from working at the store won't be enough to pay for it, and this is the only other way I can think of to get some money quick. Her birthday's in three days."

Running a hand through his silky locks, Yuuto couldn't help but smirk as he suggested slyly, "You could always borrow money from Tatsuki. Since he wouldn't be able to resist a cute face like-" He was cut off from his sentence when he felt Kotarou kick him roughly in the shins, causing Yuuto to squeak and rub the spot with a wince. "Kotarou... That was mean..."

"You get what you deserve," Kotarou replied with a nonchalant shrug, grabbing his backpack and drapped it over his shoulder. "Anyway, meet me at the Ice Cream Parlor around 6, okay?"

"Fine, fine... Meanie..."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Damn that Yuuto..." Kotarou growled as he glared daggers at his pager, which read the following: 'Sorry buddy, can't make it. Met this fine-lookin' chick and I'm taking her to the movies. Wish me luck.' He, undoubtly, recongized the phone number as Yuuto's, which made him more ticked off. "Stupid flirt..."

Groaning, Kotarou glowered off to the side, waiting for his ice cream to appear. It being the infamous Vermonster, which was twenty scoops of ice cream in a bucket, including a chunk of a brownie, bananas, cookies, a choice of toppings, and the whole thing smothered in whipped cream and hot fudge. It was the ultimate ice cream package, and the prize for eating it all was cash. A lot of cash. Cash of which the blonde planned to use to buy Mio's gift with for her birthday that was in three friggin' days!

However, now there was a problem. Yuuto was included in his plan, since the Vermonster rules stated that a group of no more than five can work together for the prize. And Yuuto was suppose to help him, but since he's now out of the picture...

Kotarou let out a deep sigh as he rose from his seat, strolling off to the other side of the parlor of where he could make out the faint outline of his cousin, Tatsuki, amoung the crowd. He wasn't quite sure why the other male was there in the first place - it wasn't like Kotarou invited him or anything. Sometimes he would just randomly show up wherever the blonde is at - but Kotarou supposed it worked to his advantage this time. Or at least, he hoped.

"Hey, Tatsuki," Kotarou greeted the other male, putting on his award-winning smile as he stood in front of his cousin.

Tatsuki was unmoved, his deep black eyes remained staring ahead, as if he didn't even acknowledge his cousin's existence. Though after a couple moments, he scoffled, crossing his arms as he muttered, "What do you want?"

At his cousin's sour expression, the blonde winced. Crap, I shouldn't have even came over here... But I have no choice, I have to ask... "Well Tatsuki... I was wondering if you could help me eat the Vermonster so I can win the prize money to get a birthday gift for Mio..."

Without hesitation, Tatsuki made his reply, "No."

The blonde instantly stopped in his tracks, smiling dropping, eyes widening as they slowly turned up to look at his cousin's indifferent expression. "What do you mean 'no'?"

"I hate ice cream. And it's just a waste of time..."

"FINE then," Kotarou growled, his eyes shining with hatred. "I don't need your friggin' help anyway!" And with that, he stomped off back to his table, where his Vermonster awaited.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I can't believe you passed out!" Yuuto said, roaring with laughter.

Frowning with a small blemish of crimson flushing onto both of his cheeks, Kotarou glared off to the side with his arms crossed. "Shut up. It's mostly your fault in the first place." Turning quickly towards his friends, the blonde jabbed a finger at him as he shouted, "If you weren't such a flirt and had to pick up every girl you see, then maybe I wouldn't have puked and passed out! At least I was able to finish it all and earn the prize money..."

"I could deny that poor girl a date. She was practically fawning over me," Yuuto murmured with an overdramatic sigh as he place his hand over his heart. "I was just trying to let her dreams come true."

"You're such an a**, Yuuto."

"Hey now, that's not nice..." Yuuto replied, his expression switching to a teasing grin as he nudged the blonde on the bed. "Hey, y'know, Tatsuki was the one that took you home after you passed out."

"So, what of it?"

"Soooo, that was pretty nice of him, don't ya think?"

Pausing at that, Kotarou's eyes slowly shifted to the side, only to stare at his wall. Despite the fact that his cousin was a total p***k most of the time, he did seem to help Kotarou out whenever he got into some sort of trouble... Though Tatsuki acted like he hated him most of the time, perhaps the Tak-kun he knew was still there, but was just a little harder to reach...

Quickly shaking away his thoughts, the blonde muttered a small "yeah, I guess" to Yuuto's question, ignoring his friends all-knowing smirk.

Hearing a faint knock at the door, Kotarou's head perked up at the sound, blinking in mild confusion. The blonde slowly rose to his feet - though he was still sick to his stomach, and that was proven by the lurch of his inwards, not quite happy that the boy had gotten up so quickly - and made his way over to the door. He wrapped a pale hand around the door knob, opening it only a bit, but that was enough to see his cousin, Tatsuki, standing there in all his broody glory.

"Oh, hey Tatsuki..." The boy muttered, now racking his brain for something to say. After all, his cousin did carry him home, or at least, according to Yuuto. For all he knew, Yuuto could be lying about the whole thing, trying to add more to his hypothesis that Taksuki like liked him, of which Kotarou mentally placed a big 'N-O' on that thought. Though, in the back of his mind, he knew Yuuto wasn't lying. About the 'Tatsuki carrying him home' thing.

"Thank you, for... Y'know, what you did for me after the whole ice cream incident."

"Hn." Tatsuki grunted, his head turning away as he grumbled, "Next time, leave me out of your childish games."

Kotarou's jaw dropped at that, the boy being lost for words as he watched his cousin retreat back to his own room. Though the blonde's speechlessness didn't last for long as his head lowered a bit, his eyes disappearing in the shadows of his hair before his head violently shot back up, hands balled up in fist as he shouted back, "Fine, a*****e!" Before grudingly stomping back to his bed and plopping back on it, arms crossed angrily. "GAWD, I hate him..."

From the other side of the bed, covering his mouth to hold back his laughter, Yuuto just nodded. "Sure, kid. Whatever you say."
