Welcome to my art diary! Here, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look into all the art I make for others here on Gaia. Join alongside my figures, The Magical Gaian Crew and me in my creative process, as well as any other fun or notable events occurring during my day!
Updates will be vary, depending on my workload and activity, but I will try to update every Saturday with at least one Gaia artpiece!.
I hope you'll enjoy reading my blog as much as I love to write in it and share my adventures with you!
⚘. ENTRY 4: Festive, Festive, FESTIVE!
Hey, everyone! I've been meaning to write this since last week, but I got distracted! Darn you, procrastination!! Anyway, it's great that I write this now because~
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas~
I've been ultra festive this holiday season despite the hardships! And that includes working a lot on Gaia art. Today we'll be covering two more Gaians from my massive commission sample project, so let's get right into it!
PART 1: Reika-Mitsuki Portrait, Inks.
I didn't document this one as much (it was one of those times I forgot to keep taking photos because I was in the zone LOL), but I got some photos in!
This was one of the samples I had drafted back in June. I really wanted to capture a really badass pose for such a badass avatar! The hair was really fun to do, but goodness I couldn't get the face and eyes right for the life of me! But I eventually did, though!
Then the weapon started giving me a challenge! It was a bit hard to make out the details on the hilt. I really wanted to capture everything that this avatar could be in an art piece - the long flowing hair, the intricate, badass weapon she's holding, her lovely bust, the cute expression ... Those could really come alive if I capture it all well!
While I still got a long way to go in capturing my imagination when it comes to the awesome poses I see in my mind, I nonetheless managed to do my best on this one once the inking was complete.
ILLUSTRATION COMPLETE!
FINAL THOUGHTS: This was such an awesome avatar!! Capturing what I wanted to achieve was challenging for sure, especially when it came to the weapon, making out the details on the outfit, and all that, but I really enjoyed the process and am satisfied with the result! Thank you for such an awesome avatar, Mitsuki!!
PART 2: Purple Pimp Crusader Full-body, Shaded Sketch.
I got a ton of photos for this one, thankfully! As since it was 1. a shaded sketch, and 2. a full-body, this one was quite lengthy!
I had this sketched out back in June, but the draft threw me off, along with the face, as shown here. So I needed to resketch everything pretty much.
But once that was all done though, I was able to do much better! I kept the pose, as it really captured what I felt emanating from this character (who was eventually named Emil but I didn't find out until later lol). It's been a while since I've drawn a man's chest ...
Time for the shading! For some reason, shaded sketches are somewhat lengthy for me to do? And this guy had a lot of dark areas. I also struggled with the gun a bit, as I have a hard time doing guns and anything mechanical (which I reALLY NEED TO SET SOME TIME ASIDE FOr sOME OF THOSE STUDIES!).
ALMOST DONE!
Talk about a lot of graphite on one page! I was well into it at this point. Just some final adjustments, and he was done!
Something I've loved ever since I was a little girl was getting graphite on my hand. A lot of artists I've met don't like this (which I understand), but for me, it shows that I was highly engaged in creating something, so the sight of it always makes me smile.
Anywho ....
ILLUSTRATION COMPLETE!
FINAL THOUGHTS: Emil is such a cool character! I read up on him on Crusader's toyhouse, and he was a really interesting character! I had a blast shading him and bringing him to life. Thank you for creating such a wonderful character, Pimp!
Outside of Gaia, I've been getting real festive! I purchased several Christmas items on Ebay to decorate my figures with them on my photos, and man I've been having a blast with them!!
Husbandos Optimus Prime and Megatron all decked out in cute santa hats! It really suits them! You'll see a lot of Christmas photos I took on this journal entry xD
I also got to stay over at my good friend's house a few weeks ago! She's Maiden_In_The_Shadows on here! Her and her husband are great friends of mine, and we always have a great time. She made me peanut butter cream pie (a childhood favorite of mine), and we also made peppermint fudge together! It was delicious!
She gave me this Cardcaptor Sakura card set as an early Christmas gift!! Look how pretty it is, it's PINK! I love it so much, along with my Sakura figma. By far one of my favorite figmas! Having these at my desk always puts me in a good mood.
Since my room is really small, I can only put a small Christmas tree in there, so why not have one for my figures? Here, my Decepticons are decorating it, but Starscream thinks one of the presents is for him! That sneaky devil sure does love himself, doesn't he? That's what I love about Supreme Husbando, hee hee hee! <3
Oh! I'm also going to be going on vacation for the holidays! As crazy as I'll probably look, I'll be bringing my scanner with me to scan more Gaia art, 'cause I'll be working on that while I'm there!
Speaking of! There will be some delays in sample work, as I now have my Christmas Art Giveaway thread now up!! This is the second year I've done this, and it's been really fun and we already have some winners! So if you want to win a free sprite piece from me or bump for ornaments, feel free to head on over!
Well, that's it for this entry, folks! May your holiday seasons be merry and fun! And if you're not having such a good holiday season, remember that this terrible year is almost over. You've survived this far and have endured so much. Give yourself some much needed rest, okay?
Next entry will probably be sometime next week. See you guys then!
