Behold the mighty powers! |
|
|
|
|
|
|
There will be three paths in the game.
Warrior, Healer, Mage
A warrior will be able to use any weapon he is given, with the exception of bows and staves. They also give twice the amount of damage that a healer or mage can give phisically.
Healers will be able to use (yes, you guessed it) healing spells, protective spells (such as shields, armor boosts, and attack boosts), and some "Limited" scrying spells. The weapons they use are bows and any other thrown weapon.
The Mages get to use staves as their weapon of choice in hand to hand combat. They also get all the violent spells. Fire balls, incinerate, daze, and clone. These are only a few of the spells that will be avalable.
Each spell will have a mana price. You regain mana gradually even while fighting but it's slow, so use the spells wisely and sparingly in the big fights. You regain three mana points per any post
Health regains slightly faster. You regain 5 health points per any post.
that's all for now, I'll write more latter.

When the new characters join they will be allowed to roll three 10 sided dice three times and are allowed to pick the best set of the three as their starting stats. first dice is health, second is mana, third is strength (also termed as defence). Of course health can't be too low or one blow can kill. That being said, health will be 5 or more (more being if they roll higher than a 5).

Two dice will be used through most of the game.
One will be for action, one will be for defence. The dungeon master -me- will roll for the monsters, things that need to be blown up, and such. The players roll from their end.
The player's action die must hit the number or higher of the monster's action die to strike a blow, if they do then the defence die will show if it did any damage. If the player rolls a die less than the defence die of the monster it means that the blow did hit, but he/she/it managed to deflect the damage or parry. If the player gets the same number or higher the blow has hit and from there you can count the damage.
I will not reveal the stats on the monster so the players are not going to be able to tell how strong the monster is, but will instead have to be able to keep their wits about them and hopefully discover a cleverness in their movements.
If a player dies in a fight I will PM them outside of the RPG and ask if they want to revive their character. If they do the pendant that they were given in the beginning will glow and they will find themselves transported to where ever Skasha is at half life and half mana. (You regain health and mana by sleeping, and you sleep by waiting for three non-action posts to go by.) From there the revived person gets a ride from Gyraith back to the others. If I ask in the PM and they don't want to play anymore the pendant breaks. (In the beginning all players are given a strange pendant that when worn can help the user in case of deathly need, but whether or not it works depends on the will to survive of the person wearing it)
I'll go more into determining the stats of the players in my next post, as well as going into the counting of damage.
The Name of the RPG will be:
Shadow Death: Age of the Vampire

As you can tell (if anyone is actually still reading this) my avie has red hair now,
This is part of the new RPG that I'm going to be putting together. At some point I might go back to writing about Skasha's past, but as I've gone over a lot of the major points, it may take a while for me to get back into writing it.
So for now, I'll be working out the kinks for the RPG. This time, dice will be involved. (Thus the need for working out kinks)
My avie will still be playing Skasha, but as she can't really move around a lot in this story (she's got a kingdom to run and can't run off on adventure as easilly) she will mostly be the narrator, you know, describing scenery and such. The Crimson Knight, whom I have made to play Gyraith, will pop in every once in a while with new info as a messanger for Skasha, or to point the player's in the right direction if they start going the wrong way. The Tree Goddess will be playing the part of, yeah you guessed it, The Tree Goddess. And finally, Captain_Underpants will put in brief comic relife, but mostly he will play the part of store keepers and bartenders (gotta have somebody who can sell the weapons and goods)
That's all for now ^.-.^

Skasha looked over her shoulder at the castle once more. |

Who knew how long it would be before she would see her home again? She had said her good byes to her parents, and to Cherifnon. Gyraith had been, difficult. Her inner eye played over the events from earlier in the evening.
"You can't leave." Gyraith had said dramatically stalking into her room stiff legged and stormy faced. Cherifnon and Skasha had just finished packing, the older woman left when the young vampire burst into the room, quietly exiting before the brewing drama could explode.
Skasha raised an eyebrow and pulled her bag onto her shoulder, only half paying any attention. "Really? And why's that? My father has given me my blessings, and unless he is becoming fickle in his dotage I highly doubt he would change his mind. You know how stubborn he is." She was still somewhat surprised at how light the bag was, though considering the magical qualities of it she shouldn't have been.
"Its too dangerous. I won't let you, and if your father had any sense he wouldn't either." His arms were crossed over his chest while he stood in a warrior pose. She smirked and rolled her eyes. While intimidating he might be to most, she could best him in any fight. As she was heir to the blood-kin line she had received some of the best training in the world regarding fighting. Though it grated on Gyraith that he could be bested by a woman in a fight, he had never pressed the matter. Instead taking a stance of see nothing, know nothing. Not the best way to handle things, but he had always believed in the traditional ideals of women being passive and docile.
She put her hands on her hips and gave him her attention. "What my father deems to be safe or unsafe is not your concern." She smiled to soften her tone and turned to grab her hair brush. "Oh come on. I can beat any Human in a fight, easy. Most Vampires too. I'll be fine." She separated her hair in to two sides and began putting it up into to identical buns on the sides of her head, her bangs framed her face giving a heart shaped look. "Take a seat, its not like I'm leaving right this second, tell me what's wrong."
He sighed and sat down in the chair she had gestured to. "There is unrest in the castle. If you go I don't know what will happen."
"There's always unrest."
"Not like this. I think there is someone trying to take over by killing your father." He had her attention finally.
She sat in the chair opposite him and folded her hands. "Alright, I'm listening."
"If you leave, it would leave to council open to, shall we say, darker subjects. Your father rarely has time to go to the council meetings anymore, and as you're his only connection..." He sighed and leaned back in the chair. "You know how they are, 'the old ways this' 'the old ways that.' They would rather have the humans in chains and be going to war every other week than live peaceably. Your father has gone against a lot of the old ways, one of the first things being the marriage between him and your mother."
"It did stop most the wars between the two races though."
"True. But some of the council members are old enough to remember times long past. And I think some of them would be ruthless enough to try and bring the old ways back."
Skasha didn't say anything for a moment. It was a lot of information to go over and the options were limited. "What if you went to the council meetings to keep an eye on things? You're my father's right hand man, if anything you'll be able to see who would try such a thing more easily than even I. In the mean time, Jasq'nya has agreed to do my parents a favor by keeping a look out on me and reporting back to them." His eyes widened, she wasn't supposed to know about Jasq'nya's duties. "And before you ask how I know, lets just say that you have your ways, and I have mine. She's told me that she can do like wise so that I know what's going on here while I'm gone. That being said, if you see anything, a clue, a sign, an impression, I want to tell her and she'll relay it back to me. I know you think its imperative that I stay, but if I do I'll never know if there isn't something out there waiting for me. If I stay, they would take the line. Maybe not by force, but there would be no chance to save the line. If I don't go out side of these castle walls and see the world, how will I know if what I believe in is true or not? I know that there is someone out there for me, I don't want to grow old wondering about what could have been."
Gyraith was silent for a long time, he did not look at her, he did not look at anything. Merely looked out into space as he thought over what she said. Skasha leaned back in her chair and watched him with worried eyes. Worry for her friend, worry for her father and mother. Bad times were ahead, very bad times. "I will watch the council for you in your absence." He clenched his eyes shut as he said the words. "And I pray you know what your talking about, things can only get worse before they get better here."
Skasha looked back to where she was walking and pulled her thoughts back into the present. Witchy had said she'd meet her in the court yard. Skasha looked up at the night time sky, it was pitch black but the stars were out and shining brightly. To vampire eyes though, the stars were more brilliant and sparkling then the finest jewel, they twinkled down at her giving some comfort. At least some things are constant in this ever changing world, she thought.

She had always dreamed of leaving the castle, going for an adveture, danger and such. But she hadn't realized the full intesity of it. Cherifnon had helped her pack, a melencholy mood hung in the room, niether saying what was coming. The plump woman handed her another gown to be stowed in the bag. They wouldn't be able fit very much into the bag, it wasn't more than a sack really, at least that had been what they had thought at first. The bag had come from Witchy just after Skasha had left her parents chambers to go pack her things.
She snorted and rolled her eyes as she saw that there was yet more room. It had to be one of her spells. With all that she had packed into the bag it should have long ago burst it's seams. Not much more than a hand bag, Skasha and Cherifnon had fit not only all of her dresses and underthings but also: three chairs, one dresser, a full length magic mirror, her bed, and all of the other odds and ends from her room.
All into a tiny handbag no larger than a melon. She really had to thank Witchy when she saw her latter.
Skasha turned when she heard a chocking sound. Cherifnon had turned away but not before her young charge saw the tears glitering. "Oh please don't cry." She hugged the older woman, "You know its not forever."
"It will be if you don't find a mate" Cherifnon pulled a kerchif out of one of her sleves and blew her nose. "Once your father dies he won't be here to help you, and if the council does not allow you to take your place as a ruler..." She trailed off, but Skasha could easily have finished for her. They would kick her out. Other than her parents Cherifnon, one or two of the other servents, Jasq'nya, and Witchy she was pretty much on her own. Without the grant of power from the high council she could lose everything of power, her titles, gold, and almost anything else of material value. If she stayed that is. Really there wasn't very much holding her to the clan, as vampires went she had never really fit in.
A few human villages were on the vampierian lands, serfs, men and women who tilled and farmed the land. And what food wasn't taken by a few of the lords (which was a lot as most vampires find the act of eating vulger) could be kept by the humans. The payment though for living on the land, and recieving protection from the vampires, was not gold but in fact blood. Once a month every human oer the age of 15 would come in to give blood. Some vampires had even sigled out certin humans as just thiers and no one elses. Cherifnon had been one, Herrick had fallen in love with her and made her a vampire. They made quiet a pair really.
The only problem with all of this was that like men, not all vampires are kind, and some had even gone so far as to kill the humans they drank from, latter claiming it an accident. But Skasha had often seen the preditory looks some of them would give when they thought no one was watching, or the way they would go for the women when chosing a meal, and touch far more than was neccicary of the woman. It made her skin crawl. As such she had made it a point to only drink from those who were willing, not a hard task considering she had looks that drew men as honey does bees. But it had also alienated her from most of her own kind who took without asking, and asumed it was thier right to treat the humans like cattle.
Skasha shook her head as much to clear her thoughts as to reausure Cherifnon. "Even if it came to that, they would not be able to stop me from visiting. Who else is going to make sure you and Herrick behave in public?" She got a laugh for the coment and turned back to the bag. Everything was packed, litterally. It was time to go.

Skasha knocked on the large vasa wood door. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
"Enter." came her father's voice from behind the door. When she opened the door her father was seated at a large table he used mainly for studying documents and other important papers involving castle keep. Because he was vampire he did not appear to be much older than Skasha. Really the only way to tell that he was older than her at all was from the power that emanated from him. A tall man with ruff cut short blond hair, clean shaven face, and very pale almost translucent skin. Though for all his power and graces the only thing that resembled between him and his daughter were their eyes. Both Blood-kin Lord and daughter had the same blood red eyes, the only way to tell that they were related at all, mostly for the fact that only a Blood-kin Lord and his heir can have red eyes. So by birth Skasha should have been the heir next in line. But as she was only half vampire, if she did not marry the council would take away the select powers that are passed from Lord to the next ruler, and in her stead chose another (and with taking away her birth right powers so to her eye color)
Lord Skivonz looked up with a slight frown, "You're late. I called for you over an hour ago."
"Oh leave her alone, dear." Lady Four Tails Wind Bringer, Skasha's mother, said as she came into the room from one of the side entrances. She too came from a people that just didn?t physically age. Were-animals age in the manner of wisdom, and when they come to a point of not wishing to live any more they simply cease to do so. On the few occasions that Skasha had actually questioned her mother on this explanation all that her mother would say is that she would understand it when she was older. Her mother was perhaps one of the most beautiful in her tribe, maybe even out of the vampirean women as well. A willowy and graceful frame, she always walked as if floating. A powerful healer and spell caster, it was even rumored that she had once brought a man back to life from the dead. She had hair that was shiny blue and hip length, and where humanoid ears would have been, on the side of her head, in its stead she had large fox ears. Her four tails as well as ears were the same color as her hair, and a slight hint of blue could be seen here and there in her skin. The healer's tails swished as she went to her husband's side and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. She leaned against the table rather than sitting next to her husband, "Sit down, Skasha. We needed to talk to you."
Skasha sat as she was told and steadied herself, she knew what was coming next. The talk. First they would go on about how she had duty and honor to up hold, then they'd say she needed to reconsider the idea of marring Gyraith. Followed closely by the four hour fight which would be 'family discussion time.'
Her father set aside the scroll he had been reading and folled his hands before saying, "How would you like to go out and see the world?"
Skasha blinked, did she hear him correctly? "Excuse me?"
"Well, your father and I spoke with your cousin, Witchy, a few hours ago. And she made a wonderful suggestion." Lord Skivonz snorted, his wife gave him a dirty look before going on, "She suggested that you see a bit more of the world before having to settal into one place. And who knows? You might learn a few things."
Skasha was just a bit shocked, this couldn't be happening, it was too good to be true. "What's the catch?"
"Can't we do something nice without having an alterative motive?"Skasha stared at her father blankly. "Alright, so maybe we do have a motive."
"We know your not interested in the men here. And really I can understand it, these are people you grew up with, and they probably feel more like relatives than potential future spouses. But I do know there are other vampire clans out there. There are even rouge vampires that hold no aliegence to any lord, gods forbid you fall in love with one of them."
"What your father is say is that we want you to be happy in life. You have great power, and with all great power comes even greater responsibility, but that shouldn't mean going through life married only because you must be." She took her husband's hand in her's and just held it. "Witchy is willing to show you around a few of the other kingdoms, maybe even some of the alternate dimentions. Even set you up in a buisness so you can see what its like to live on your own, you know, give you a better idea of the value of gold."
"You'd really let me do that?"
"Well, yes."
Skasha shot out of her chair and rushed over to hug both of her parents were they sat, "Thankyou! Thankyou! I won't let you down."
Both of her parents hugged her back. Her father was the first to speak up though. "With all of that said though, we have a gift for you. Here." He leaned back and reached under his shirt pulling out a beautiful gold chain necklace with a singal tear drop shaped pale blue stone. Fire and rainbow light seemed to flicker in its depths as though it were a real living breathing flame. "This has been in our family for many generations, given to my great, great, great, great grandfather by a dragon from the mountain lands. It's called The Dragon's claw. Story as they have told it is that the stone is so powerful any dragon would give their sharpest claw just to posses it. I can't tell you all it does, because I honestly don't know. What I do know is it can protect you where we can't, and guide you're when alone. It can only be worn by those who are strong in heart, soul, and mind. And now, I give it to you." He placed the necklace around his daughters neck. "Use it wisely."
There were no words, all she could do was hug both of them and feel the glow of happiness that seemed to shine from all of them in that moment.
