Oh Huzzah. I am saying stuff again. Thank god no one reads my trite words. It's weird that its been 5 years since Sept 11th and I think that while we should never forget, I think we need to stop licking the wounds and letting it heal. I lived in New York City when it happened. My husband could see the towers falling from his office. I had friends that lost families. I think the importance of the day is getting pushed aside for attention grabbing sentiments and people selling little minature twin towers in front of ground zero. OH my god WTF! We need to build a damn building NOW so the tourist can stop taking pictures of a grave site. How many times have you visited Aushwitz to take pictures in front of gas chambers. I think what is sad is that there are people who have done it. Should I sit in front of the old concentration camps and sell soap as rememberance? Yes you should remember. Yes you should take stock, but what its really turned into is a place where people can feel self-empowered that they are patriotic because they visited "ground zero".
Nothing is being built because people are afraid, or people want to remember. You aren't going to forget. No one forgot when JFK was shot or when Pearl Harbor was attacked. America needs to step forward as a nation and heal already. We don't need a tourist site. We need a building to rebuild business and reinvigorate life. We don't need stars clamouring for attention singing songs that are total bs either. We need to start thinking, instead of reacting.
