Tropes List for Tales of Zionia!
Tales of Zionia: Record of Ivala
But how that change affects the world is yet to be seen...

A game made with RPG Maker XP set in the Zion mythology by Airship Canon. This game starts off very similar to any other RPG, with the main character's home town being devastated, but after a few events, it begins to subvert many of the things you thought you knew about RPG storylines.

This game follows the story of Victor Rydell, a mercenary who guards the Rainbow Ruins Excavation team, and how his life is turned upside down by a multi-international conspiracy. Little did Victor know, he was tied to the beginning of a great change within the world who's peace guarded by the Zion Alliance.

This game provides examples of the Following:
_____________________________________________________________________
Action Girl (EVERY Female except Amiko)
Aerith And Bob
An Axe To Grind (Blaine's weapon is an Axe)
Aloof Big Brother ([Blaine to Justine, but Justine is older.])
Always Chaotic Evil ([Giretsu, its Eternal Queen, and its Demon Knight Raath'Grith.])
Awesome But Impractical (The Great Chandelier Cannon, a BFG for an Airship, has massive firepower, but coupled with a long loading time, and the airship that commands it has to be immobilized and grounded, therefore, it's only logical purpose is to destroy other superweapons, and Centrial is Freizkiel's Ally.)
Badass Bookworm (Seth Olvan)
Beach Episode (There is a cutscene that equates to this.)
Beehive Barrier (The Aegis Airship Defense System on Freizkielien Airships, The Faerie Light Shield that protects Glaciale)
Bittersweet Ending (one of the game's possible endings....[All the player characters die, but the Fourth Zionic War doesn't break out, and the Kill Sat doesn't fire again, and is destroyed.])
BFS (Victor wields one, so does Adler, but Adler's is more sensible)
BFG (Played with- it's for an Airship. The Great Chandelier Cannon for the Great Aether class Airship)
Blade On A Stick (Lidia Skye wields a lance as a note. Many NPCs, friend and foe alike do as well.)
Boobs Of Steel (Lidia Skye is the most well-endowed female character, and a complete Bad a**, at least in battle.)
Bragging Rights Reward (Subverted, [while Platonia's Superweapon will make it seem like the Divine Sword Ivaldi is one, the Perfect Run Final Boss will make it clear that it isn't.])
Calling Your Attacks
Chekovs Gun ([ You hear about a weapon that can drain someone's life force. It Exists. There's other cases, but that is the most notable.])
The Chessmaster ([Blaine. Also one skit has him mention his favorite board game is Chess.])
The Chosen One ([ Victor and Amiko are both capable of wielding the Divine Sword Ivaldi, and no one else can. Of course Amiko doesn't wield swords...])
Cool Ship (For the good guys, the Centrialian Great Aether-class Airship, and the Freizkielien Asgard Superfortress. [The badguys hijack the Freizkielien Balmung, which is a villainous Cool Ship.])
Complete Monster (Lord Eustace gleefully kills civilians, and enjoys deploying WMDs on towns full of little children.)
Defeat Means Friendship ([Adler after a long sidequest.])
Distressed Damsel (Amiko is captured by Lord Eustace early in the game. She's rescued fairly quickly.)
Doomed Hometown
Duel Boss ([ Seth, if you end up stealing his girlfriend will fight Victor in a fight to the death, One Vs. One, No Items, Centrial's Desert.])
The Empire (Subverted: Freizkiel is one of the most honorable and good nations in the world, despite its use of Superweapons in conflicts past.)
Empty Room Psych (In Yesod, The town lost in time, there's A LOT of empty, useless, rooms.)
Face Heel Turn ([If Victor ends up with Lidia, Seth's gonna be pissed...])
Famous Ancestor (Lidia Skye is the descendant of Mia Skye, the woman said to be responsible for Freizkiel's victory over Giretsu)
Fan Preferred Couple (The Creator of the game is saddened by the fact that the pairing of Victor/Justine is popular as hell. That said, he's probably asking for it, because of the paths system. Although, he promises that there might be hell to pay if you don't like the Official Couples.)
Global Airship (The Lemuria. Slightly subverted, however, because while you get it VERY early, you can't use it to do anything but travel country to country until the end of the game, where it's played straight.)
Gratuitous German (Many things Freikielien)
Guest Star Party Members (Blaine, and the Zion Soldiers)
Guide Dang It (Good Luck with the Relationship Values, sucker!)
Hair Of Gold (Victor, Selene)
Heel Face Turn ([Adler])
Heroic Sacrifice ([Captain Felix and the Asgard, and potentially EVERY player character, should you get the "Shooting Star Ending".])
Hundred Percent Completion ([ Gets you the true end, if Amiko is a Victorious Childhood Friend (Anyone else results in either the Shooting Star Ending, or the Almost True Ending)])
I Want My Beloved To Be Happy (Subverted. [ If Victor ends up with Lidia, Seth will come at him with an ungodly anger, and challenge him to a fight to the death.])
Infant Immortality (Subverted to hell.)
Instant Runes (Spells result in...)
Jeigan Character (Zion Alliance Soldiers, who aren't directly playable, Guest Star Party Members who are STRONGER than you every time.)
Jerkass (Adler when you first meet him. He remains aloof [ even after he joins you.])
Katanas Are Just Better (Selene wields katanas, and other such light Japanese Swords.)
Karma Houdini (You never get a chance to kill [ Lord Eustace, and he's not brought to justice by anyone else....]. And depending on your views, the Emperor of Freizkiel during the Third Zionic War may be one.)
Kill Sat (Celestial Station, which has the Superweapon, Weiss Strahl)
The Kingdom (Played Straight with Glaciale, and Brutally Subverted by [Giretsu.])
Kissing Cousins (Sorta. [Victor and Amiko ARE related, but they're EXTREMELY distant.])
La Resistance (Subverted as the La Resistance wants to bring [ the Always Chaotic Evil country Giretsu back.])
Lady Of War (Lidia Skye)
Lost Superweapon ([Played Straight with Balmung (Blauer Strahl), slightly subverted with Celestial Station (Weiss Strahl) (people know about it, but SEVERELY underestimate its firepower),and outright subverted with Roter Strahl.])
LoveMakesYouEvil (Adler, but love [is also responsible for his Heel Face Turn. Then there's Seth's Face Heel Turn if you steal his girlfriend.])
Magitek (Subverting the George Lucas Rule, most of it is Freizkielien.)
Magnificent b*****d ([Blaine])
Money Spider
My Country Right Or Wrong (Played Straight By [the two Ivalan Knights.])
New Game Plus
Not Compensating For Anything (Victor, Adler, Selene, and Lord Eustace all use swords, as do a lot of Mooks.)
Offical Couple (Victor/Amiko, and Seth/Lidia- as per Word Of God. Although the player can choose otherwise. Adler/Selene too. That's unchangeable, however.)
Parental Abandonment (Victor's dad ditched his family.)
Perfect Run Final Boss ([Raath'Grith])
Player Punch (Combined with You Suck, when [YOU kill the two mostly innocent Ivalan soldiers who are shown in many cutscenes.])
The Quiet One ([Adler])
Redshirt Army (Subverted: The Zion Soldiers are Jeigans.)
Relationship Values
Rescue Romance (Seth fell in love with Lidia because she saved him a few years before the game begins.)
Road Cone (There DEFINITELY is a True Ending. The others are there, but aren't canon.)
Say My Name
Schizo Tech
Sealed Evil In A Can ([ You eventually begin to believe that Raath'Grith is sealed by the Rainbow Seal.... but he isn't. Balmung is.])
Sealed Good In A Can (Most believe the Divine Sword Ivaldi is sealed by the Rainbow Seal.)
Ship Tease (There's PLENTY.)
Ship to Ship Combat (The game is still in production and this has already happened between Victor/Amiko and Victor/Justine shippers.)
Shout Out (The Cameo battle in Sentinel's Arena. And the Arena itself hasYuri fighting Flynn in a painting on the wall.)
Snow Means Love (The obligatory end-game romantic scene takes place in Kalt, Freizkiel.)
Staff Chick (Amiko, Seth also wield a staff, but he's a guy.)
Straight Arrow (Justine)
Trauma Inn
Unlucky Childhood Friend (Amiko on a lot of endings.)
Victorious Childhood Friend (Amiko on her ending [and the True ending is her extended ending.] Adler and Selene are a couple that is the result of this as well.)
Well Intentioned Extremist (The Freizkielien Emperor during the Third Zionic War: He ordered a near-genocide to deal with the Always Chaotic Evil Country Giretsu.)
Woobie (Lidia is designed as part one, part Bad a**, and part Lady Of War.)
Xanatos Gambit ([Blaine] pulls these left-and-right.)
You b*****d (Combined with Player Punch, in a way that is slightly Anvilicious about Power-leveling.)
