There was a mermaid sitting in the ocean looking at the big black sky with all of the amazing stars glittering down on her. It was her dream to go up into the sky and fly (or swim) in circles around them. She once saw something in the sky called an airplane, but it was built by humans and she was a mermaid. She couldn't swim to the humans and ask if she could go on the aiplane. What was she to do?
Then she went over to the coral reef to sleep. How could she get on an airplane without the humans noticing her fins and maybe killing her? She laid down on the coral and went to sleep.
It was amazing! You could see all the stars up close and glittering in your face, just for you. She looked all around amazed she needed no water to fly freely in outer space. She reached out her hand and her fins to touch the biggest prettiest star out there, then suddenly everything shook! All the stars started disappearing! Yet the shaking got harder. One by one faster than the speed of light then everything went dark...
"Nooooooo!" screamed the mermaid as she awoke from her dream still feeling the shaking below her. A big ocean liner was ramming the coral reef and all the fish were swimming away from their destoyed homes. She saw the big boat coming towards her and got up from the coral reef and got ready to swim, but her tail was caught on something. She squirmmed and untangled her self, but she was still stuck. The boat was 50 feet and cloing. She had to get out and fast.She got her tail untangled and something pushed her out of the way of the boat and she swam really hard.
After the boat was gone she went over to see what pushed her out of the way and saved her life. She looked around and suddenly a human in some sort of a suit was watching her. Then she looked down to see what had held her in front of the boat and it was a big shell. she picked it up with some stress, but it was so beautiful she had to lok at it. It's shape was kind of funny. It had five points and these straight narrow edge. She had no clue what it was, but she knew it meant soemthing, although she didn't know what it meant.
She went back towards her city and found a small little fishing boat with fish lining up to get the bait. she shooed them all away from the bait, so the wouldn't be tongiht's dinner and she tugged on the wire. A human pulled back, but the meraid was too strong and he fell into the water. He opened his eyes and the mermaid swam closer and closer so he was face to face with the mermaid. He was so stunned and was afraid of what to do. Then the mermaid pushed him up to the surface to breathe and then went down into the deep parts of the water no fisherman could reach. The other man with him asked what was wrong since his face gave awaythat he was worried. He looked at the guy and smiled,"Nothing."
Then the mermaid went closer to the surface and the fisherman back down into the water and their eyes met once again. he came closer to her and she came in closer to him, until they were only an inch away from each other face to face. Then she leaned in and gave him a kiss so he would know, that is was a secret that she was alive and so he would know he shouldn't be killing those poor animals because they make the ocean so beautiful and amazing. She also wanted to show him that mermaids do have feelings to, and some that we can not understand. And the human understood them all. The fisherman went back up the other fisherman helped him get back on the boat and the one fisherman said,"Lets go home, this is wrong. We should enjoy the beauty these fish give the ocean and the beauty to the world."
The mermaid didn't care about seeing the stars, she cared about seeing the fish the glittered the ocean. Just like the stars that glittered in the night sky, except the fish were prettier becuase they were alive and caring. She also didn't care about seeing and touching the biggest star. She had met, kissed, and helped her one true love.
