Hello, Gaians! Juno here, with the usual news and other banter!
May's Monthly Collectibles are "Demonic Anklets" and "Yokai's Treasures."
There has been much demand for a counterpart for the Winged Anklets, so here they are!
"Yokai's Treasures" draws into the beautiful world of Japanese folklore. After some research, we thought that the Oni, the Kitsune (9-tailed fox), and the Yurei encompassed a unique variety of characters for this set. And note - these are ancient stories, beautifully passed down! If you have the time, please read more about these spirits on http://wikipedia.org, or look up some of the stories via Google!
It's a pretty busy month for me otherwise. @_@ Must prepare for Fanime (a group of Gaia artists will be in Artist Alley this year!) and I have a week before donation item time starts again XD
In the meantime, I will be attending to glitches again - thanks to those of you who've PMed me as reminders. I will get to them as fast as I can.
Otherwise, this month, we are also scheduled for a salon update! Stay tuned~
*Edit* Oh, I forgot something. I also wanted to say that personally... I am getting mildly irritated at people who actively go around snooping, plugging in random parts of URL's in search of unreleased content and whatnot. Please don't do that. It ruins it for us, the staff, who work hard to bring you fun things, and it also ruins it for users who enjoy being surprised. Do you part, be a good person and play fair!

May Notes... of a more personal nature
I don't write personal stuff in here very often, but tonight, my spirit moves me.
(Yes, I'm completely sober, and not on any medication. XD)
Sometimes in the midsts of all the work and the stress, there are brief moments where time stands still, and you find yourself appreciating all that you have.
Honestly... working at Gaia is encompasses some of the best, and the worst, times of my life. My responsibilities are heavy, but so joyful when done right, and in the end, it makes it all worth it. There are things that happen that make me so unbelievably mad... but in the end, I know everyone just tries their best. I get so frustrated at myself when I slip, or do something wrong... but everyone makes mistakes, and the best thing you can do is to accept and learn from your mistakes.
I was reading through the comments on my last journal entry, and I had a moment where I really appreciated everything about Gaia - the site, the staff, the community. We have such a great thing going on here. Sure, there are some sour times, and sour people to go along with it - but I dunno. Even a lot of them speak out because they care. But bottom line... it makes me so happy when I see these happy comments. They really boost my spirits, even when I think my spirits couldn't be any higher.
I have been at Gaia for about a year and a half now... almost nearing two. It has been an enriching and challenging experience, and I'm really honored to be in a position where my actions affect such a large community as ours. My only hope, really, is that Gaia does well - for myself, for the other staff, and more importantly, for all of you. I look forward to the days when there will be more fun and less maintenance; more positive attitudes between admin and users, and eachother, than negativity; a truly unique and large virtual world that you all can enjoy, and that we can enjoy maintaining.
My vision of what Gaia should be is strong and vibrant, like a field of wildflowers. And as long as I'm at Gaia, I want to work towards that vision, with the best of my abilities. Though, I know that I can't do it without you, the community - our community. I just wanted to say that I sincerely appreciate those of you who take the time and efforts to be positive and helpful, and are working towards the same vision as mine.

May Notes
Hello, Gaians!
I've just returned from vacation, and now I'm back to work.
You may have noticed that some minor glitches have been fixed this week, like the mix-up between the Str8 and Belted Pants! I've also added the hoods back onto the Tundra Coats, and will be doing the same to the In Da Hood sweaters shortly.
I mentioned in my last journal entry that the Egyptian Bracelets and Armlets now work together, along with other hand-held items. Now that I've figured out how to accommodate bracelet items and hand-helds together, yes - I will be going back to fix all other bracelet items to do the same thing. It's going to take me some time however, so thanks in advance for your patience!

Green Bubbles Addition & Armlets Issue Part 2
Hello Gaians!
*EDIT* Everything - armlets, bracelets, and Green Bubbles - should be working now. Let me know if there are any problems. XP
You'll probably notice that there is now a "Green Bubbles" variation in the Aquatica MC, which has been added due to popular demand. :3 However, please be patient - the item may not show up on your avatar (though you should be able to see the thumbnail) at this time. They should be working soon.
You will also notice that the clear bubbles have now been fixed. Sorry to those of you who liked the Green Bubbles, but don't worry - they are an option now, so you haven't lost anything!
The same goes for the Armlets. You should now be able to equip bracelets with hand-held items. The graphics for the armlets aren't showing up on your avatar, which is something I'm aware about, and also in the middle of fixing (need a programmer's help for this part XD)

Egyptian Armlet/Bracelets
Hey guys,
Just FYI, I am still tampering with the Egyptian armlets and bracelets. Due to the nature of the way I'm debugging (basically, swapping layers around and whatnot) - I have to save them after I mess with them in order to see the effect. Because of this, both the armlets and bracelets may change from time to time in terms of how they layer (or, not even show up at all) if you are currently customizing your avatar.

April 2007 Notes

I have some stuff to discuss with you all today. Thanks to everyone who tunes in to my journal, also.
--- Monthly Collectibles ---
As you all know, this month we released the ever-demanded Lunar Scythe and Mermaid Tail items, within their specific sets! I've seen mostly positive feedback so far, which is great - very refreshing from the past few months.
Green Bubbles issue: I've been reading through a lot of threads, and I've gotten both requests to keep and fix the bubbles. There has been a suggestion to just add another pose, which is something I like, but it's not a decision I can make on my own. Usually we refrain from making any changes to items that have already been released, unless they are in super-demand. In any case, I will discuss this with some other staff members, and get back to you on the issue.
--- Egyptian Bracelet/Armlets ---
There have been a lot of threads recently in SF requesting these to be fixed. I have addressed as many as I can find, but otherwise, please do spread the word that I am trying to fix them this week.
Thing is... technically, they are all sitting on different layers. I haven't looked at them thoroughly yet, but at this very moment, I have no idea why they're knocking off handheld items. I will find the problem though, eventually, so hang tight!
--- Item Updates for the Future ---
As I discussed in a past journal entry, I briefly discussed the possibility of not only alternating through different styles/interests for store items, but also to eventually be able to release several different sets at a time.
I met with a few other staff members last week to discuss the general direction of sprite items, and how to plan better for the future. Currently, there are only a few of us who are devoted to sprite asset creation, and most of it does funnel through yours truly.
I feel it's very important to be able to keep up with the demands of the community, and to make sure that all updates such as these remain as regular and frequent as possible. However, it has come to my attention that sometimes, having such highly-set deadlines can potentially sacrifice quality, which is something I personally think you guys appreciate more. In that regard, my pixel team and I have worked out a tentative schedule of common item updates: basically, we will be working on a rotation schedule between common (store) items, salon updates, and housing sets.
This rotation schedule will not only allow for more frequent updates for both store, item, and housing categories, but by allowing more breathing space between these updates, we can focus on making these sets better, even possibly larger. As it's been right now, I have been trying very hard to make sure that a full store update goes out every month; this however, forces me to make sacrifices, such as less frequent salon updates, for example. This rotation schedule will also allow me to finally pay more attention to updating Prize & Joy, uncommon/rare items, and game prizes in the future - all of which have been terrible neglected over the past 6+ months.
On a personal note, it will also give me some time to work on other projects outside of MC's and sprite work (well, maybe.) For those of you who've been in positions where you are bound to one particular job, one particular project, for very long periods of time... you know that, not only does it get boring, but it also gets demoralizing overall for a creative person. I love working on MC's and pixel art, but when there are deadlines back to back (since MC's and item updates are pretty much completely staggered in a month) it gets a bit stressful.
Even while we are trying out this new rotation schedule, I will be doing my best to also rotate the type/style/genre of item updates that are to be released! So in the meantime, please do feel free to send me any questions/concerns/suggestions, as usual.

As promised, the Gold Mountain Dress Shoes are now back in Prize and Joy.
If you know of any other missing items - or more importantly, thumbnails of items that link to different items, please PM me and let me know.

Back to Work
Hello, Gaians!
Happy Monday! I just got back from SakuraCon in Seattle- it was very exciting! 3-Day conventions are so short though, 4 days are much more fun.
Anyway, now that I'm back, I'm writing to let you all know that, if you've PMed me with an issue from the last 1-2 weeks, that I will do my best to address them this week and next week... though, I am still working on April's MC's this month, so you may not see changes until the week after. Sorry! So busy!
Please feel free to PM me with any other issues, or to remind me of ones that you've already expressed, if you don't hear from me or don't see changes within 3 weeks. Otherwise, I'll do my best to keep you informed.

Some Extra Notes
Hello again, Gaians!
I just wanted to let you all know that I've run into some issues with the Left and Right anklets. I've been informed that neither anklets show up in the inventory, and thanks to an awesome developer, we've figured out why.
We've made the proper fixes, but we will not be able to implement these changes to the live site until tomorrow. I'm informing all of you about this here because you may notice that neither the Left or Right anklets now have a choice on which leg you want to equip it on - don't fret! That option will be back tomorrow, I had to disable it tonight to test some stuff out.
Sorry for the inconvenience!
The Egyptian Golden Flail has also been added back into H.R. Wesley. Oops. We must've skipped over it on accident, sorry about that. -3-

March 2007 Item Update
Hello, Gaians!
As promised, we've just released this month's item update - a basic Egyptian's set to go along with the recent Housing update. I'm sorry it's a few hours late... I got a fever over the weekend and slept most of Sunday in the hopes to sleep it off, but I am very loopy and low on energy today, sadly. Hope you enjoy.
I wanted to point out one thing about the Egyptian Gold Anklets. You're probably wondering, why are there two? o_o If you notice, you'll see:

Egyptian Gold Anklet (right)
They're actually the SAME ITEM - the reason why the "left" and "right" are divided into separate pieces is so that you can equip them separately. Unlike the arms, the current avatar system doesn't have any "leg" items divided. If you notice, all of the current anklet-like items all come in a pair of two.
You should be able to just purchase one, and switch between the two legs. However, you need to buy 2 in order to equip them on both.
Also, I've ran into a problem with the Egyptian Gold Bracelets and Armlets - they're not supposed to knock eachother off, so I'm trying to find out why it's doing that. Bear with me while I try to figure it out!
