I am proud to be who I have become.
Self-styled, self-made and self-confident.
I haven't acquiesced to the pressures put on me. I left the suffocation of my old life, stepped into the wild world without support and, through some luck, managed to piece together a living. But more importantly I was able to piece together a self from all the shattered parts. Applying Occam's razor to what had been, stripping out the supernatural, the presumptuous and the hurtful, I wound up with few friends, no family and a nice lump of owed favors.
Yet here I am a few years later, in love, well-kept, favors being returned and life advancing. Funny, isn't it, how much we think we need all the things and people around us until we see that we can make it without them? Funnier still that then and only then can we really understand how valuable those things and people can be.
