it ain't like it used to be
so simple and free
it's nowhere near easy
but life's gotten so busy
why can't i go back in time
retrace everywhere i've been
remember every song and rhyme
relive those memories again
my heart lies in the past
and i always stop and wonder
why did it go so fast
far beyond my reach and yonder
every day it comes to mind
and thoughts start to flow
but i've got to leave it behind
and let my past go
but inside i die of curiousity
what if my life were still the same
if i had never moved to another city
would i still be sane
because the life i have here
seems hard to live without
my hopes and my fears
lie here without a doubt
if i had a chance
a lifetime oppurtunity
like cherishing one last dance
i'd take it with all gratuity
i could rearrange my life
and mend my mistakes
take away all pain and strife
and finally...finally awake
to a dream i've been waiting for
my heart's deepest desires
to finally reach that door
and aim for higher
