She saw a girl. They continued walking until they reached where Todd was standing.
Sophie and Trixie stood in front of Todd. “Glad you could make it” Drew approached them both. Todd didn’t say a thing. The girl next to her was Hannah. Sophie looked hard on her. Jake noticed how Sophie looked at Hannah then he smiled while whispering into her ear. “She’s a childhood friend of Todd”
She was shocked of what she just heard. She didn’t know how Jake read her mind but she was actually asking herself who that girl is standing next to Todd. After hearing those words she didn’t say a word.
They walked to the nearest bar. They drank champagne and ordered some food. They stayed there at the bar not noticing what time it is. Sophie took a glanced at her watch and she widened her eyes as she saw it was already 12 midnight. They all went out of the bar. Todd asked Jake and Matt to help Hannah go home that they both agree. Drew said that he’ll be walking home Trixie.
“Come on. I’ll walk you home” he said as he was starting to walk leaving Sophie alone. She was shocked hearing those words so she started to walk also. As they were walking, no one uttered a word to each other. Sophie was tired of the silence between them so she asked him “Did you have fun today?”
“A little” he said as he put his hands inside the pockets of his jacket. The atmosphere was getting cold. Sophie wrapped herself by using her arms. Todd noticed that Sophie was getting cold because she just wears a sleeveless top. He stopped walking and he removed his jacket.
Todd put the jacket on her without saying any word and he continues to walk. Sophie wrapped herself again even though she was already wearing a jacket. Finally, after a long walk they reached Sophie’s house. “You can return the jacket tomorrow” he said as he saw that Sophie was trying to remove the jacket “Thank you then” she smiled. “I have to go now” he said “Wait” she uttered then she came near to him. She kissed him on the cheek “Happy birthday!” then she walked back and entered their house. After Sophie entered, he touched his cheek then went off.
Sophie was falling for Todd. She don’t know how’d it happened but she just know that she likes him not only because of his good looks. She likes him because though he doesn’t show to others that he cared for her, she can feel it.
One night, as Sophie was walking home. Her phone rang. It was Jake who was calling. “Hello?” she said. “Sophie? Please come here at the hospital” Jake replied immediately and turned-off the phone. As their conversation ended, she immediately when to the hospital knowing that Todd might be in danger.
She reached the hospital and asked the nurse if someone was checked in named Todd Davis. The nurse nodded and led her to his room. As she opened the door, she saw Todd lying in the hospital bed with bruises in his face. She looked around and she saw his friends and Hannah sitting on the couch.
“What happened?” she asked him as she walked towards. He refused to speak so it was Matt who told Sophie. “Sophie, can we talk outside?” Matt asked and she nodded. They walked out the room. “Todd was in a bar and he was caught in a fight.” He explained but Sophie was still confused “Why is he in there?” she asked “Well, he had a small fight with his mom and went to the bar to let his anger subside by drinking” he bowed as he said the whole story.
Sophie looked at him and she went back inside the room. She waited for his friends to leave including Hannah before she talked to him. It took an hour before they leave Todd along with her. “Todd…” she uttered as she went to his side. She looked at him for a long time before she spoke again. “Are you alright?” she said in a low voice but he can still hear.
He didn’t reply from her question. She decided to sleep on the couch so that she can guard him until the sun rises. Todd was awakened in the middle of the night. He saw Sophie sleeping uncomfortable on the couch. He grabbed his blanket and covered her with it. The room was cold thinking that she might catch cold. He went back to sleep with a smile on his face thinking about her.
When morning comes, Sophie was the first one to wake up. She decided to go home first but she leaves a note to him. She went home to get enough sleep before she go back to the hospital. Her mother understands her situation and she also knows that she loves Todd so much so it’s okay with her.
After she got enough rest, she cooked him lunch and decided to bring it to him. She went to the hospital past 12. She arrived in his room but he wasn’t there. The nurse told her that he went out for a walk so she looked at the window until he returns. She waited for about 10 minutes and after that she heard the door opened thinking that it might be Todd.
But unfortunately, it was Ginger and Hannah who entered. “Look who’s here” Ginger teased as she walked towards Sophie. She grabbed her by her shirt and dragged her to the floor. They started kicking her and punching her as if she’s a pillow. Sophie started to choke and blood came out from her mouth. “You damn girl! You took Todd away from me!” Hannah shouted as she kept on kicking her.
The door opened. Todd was smiling as he entered but as he looked at them kicking Sophie, the smile turned into a frown. He walked towards Ginger and Hannah. They stopped as he was about to hit Hannah. He stopped as he heard Ginger. “Don’t hurt her! I was the one who done this” she said chinned up. He walked where ginger was standing and put his hand around her neck and clenched her neck as if it was a can but he stopped after hearing Sophie choke.
