Stereotypes in Japan are all too predictable. The bulk of anime characters used have very predictable personalities that can be predicated based off of appearance. Anime has been for the longest time has used stereotyping techniques on not only character personalities but on cultural differences as well. The question is how do you do this? Simple, if you look on several key factors how an opening is done you can get the general jist of character personalities from the anime. It’s a long list to take a look at but here are the several key factors that will be looked at:
Hair Color, Hair Style, Eye Color, Eye Size, Age, Androgyny, Mascots, Text, Song Artist, Engrish in Opening Song, Quality of Animation, How realistic the art is, Gloss Effects!, Ratio of Males to Females, Breast Size, Motifs, Title
I have seen a lot of anime in the past. So much that I will often judge an anime by it’s cover, i.e., the opening theme song. I’ve seen so much that I feel it can be predicted in an easy manner. It’s easy to tell the very basics of an anime based off the opening. Whither it’s a comedy, tragedy, or love romance. Simple key factors of character interaction in the opening will tip us off of such things. That isn’t what we’ll be exploring today, no, what we’ll be exploring today is how analyze the opening to understand who the love interests are, who the personalities are, and a general prediction of the plot
