Across the Plains
In the middle of the savanna, buffaloes galore grazed, laying in the grass, feeding their young. And behind a stealthy rock sat a feline, her arms covered in armor, her head covered with a cloak. The lioness held in her left hand a staff, her hind legs pulling her back as if to launch forward. Just as she was about to jump and attack the buffalo that was on guard, a voice stopped her. "And where do you think your going, warrior?" The male voice asked and as the lioness turned around, she noticed it was the buffalo leader. "Now now dear Jillian... You know how many time I've helped you. I think you owe me at least one buffalo to feed my pack tonight. The leader of the Zebra's had her territory marked; I have no other food source." Hearing this lioness speak like they were buddies made the buffalo man laugh. "Zyanya... I owe you nothing. Nothing at all. You have killed too many of my warriors. I will not let you kill another. Now be gone before I have to kick your a** out of here."
The lioness growled, turning her back on the buffalo leader, then suddenly he would moan falling over and grabbing his throat. Zyanya smiled, "You old man... I had warned him before." She said to herself, dragging off the buffalo leader, leaving the buffaloes in charge of themselves.

When Zyanya returned to her clan, she threw the meat down in the middle of the den, and growled hastily to turn back to her chair. When she sat down, she threw her hood back, revealing a scar on her cheek bone on he right side. "That damned old buffalo is our dinner. He wouldn't let me have a warrior, so I took him instead." She said as a muscular figure popped out of the darkness and sat in the throne next to the lioness. "Oh. It's nice of you to join us, my dear Yurem." She said to her mate, turning her bronze gaze upon his long, copper skin and then met his blue gaze. "Yes, my dear Zyanya." Yurem watched as Zyanya placed a paw over his and stared at the feasting pack. "Food is scarce lately." The lioness said softly to the lion male, her eyes briefly resting upon him. Yurem only sighed, his mane falling into his face some. "Zyanya... We must do our best though." He said softly before getting up and moving out of the den, finding out that it was raining. Another light sigh escaped his lips before he looked up at the cloudy skies and down at his land. "Everything is dying even though we have plenty of water."

it was now darkness and Zyanya lay in the den, her blue eyes watching a mouse in a trap, the lioness' sleeping already. Yurem walked in and laid next to his wife, nuzzling her paw with his cheek as he rested it on the cool sand of the den. "Don't worry, love. We will find food even if we have to kill more boars." Zyanya sighed as she looked at her mate, her eyes glistening in the little moonlight streaks that fell into the room like pieces of string. "I don't believe so."

Morning rose faster then the lioness had expected as she sat on the top of the den, her hood over her face, shielding her eyes from the orange that spread across the land. In her paw, she held her own majestic staff that hung with eagle feathers and beads collected from the humans in the B.C. time. Her eyes moved to the grass, where a cheetah lay, hunting for her family and kids. they we're below lion's on the food chain, and when Zyanya approached, the cheetah bowed, her own hood falling on her head. "Good morning, my Queen." The cheetah said, and when she looked up, Zyanya pulled up a dead zebra, one of the few left. "Here, take this. I do not need it as much as your kids do." The cheetah took it in her paws, her mouth gapped open a little as she looked at the queen and Zyanya smiled, then walked away.

When she came to the mouth of the den, Yurem stood there, his staff in paw and his hood fallen from his face. "How generous of you." Zyanya merely smiled as she walked in and to the back of the cave where she set her staff down and laid there, her eyes open still. She pushed back her hood, and looked up at the roof where the light shone in. The holes had gotten bigger than she last remembered, but even the dirt was 'dying' like everything else in the Sahara. A little sigh fell from her mouth and she sat up, stretching and watched as Yurem came and sat by her. "Are there any more?" His voice was deeper now, a tone that meant he was serious. Zyanya looked at the wall, falling into a day dream, but answered, "Of course. I'll hunt soon."
