Just working through an idea of mine that the DC is diet soda for Gaians. Like diet soda, its not actually what you really crave. You just think you crave it because its so availible. And the people, they talk about it and how it feels to get it. But before the DC us Gaians had a little thing called random events. Little trunks, boxes, and glowing pink goodness that gave something or value. The value of a random event was much higher than anything in the DC on average, but getting that much all the time wouldn't be good for you...just like if you drank soda complete with calories and sugar all the time.

Now its not the DC doesn't have its own to offer to us. The daily tokens and other game items are a nice pleasure for some Gaians. Just like how some people do prefer diet coke to classic coke. However, even the most enthusiastic diet coke drinker will want a root beer from time to time (it goes so much better with ice cream than diet coke). And that is where the problem comes on Gaia. Our random events are practically gone but hardly enough of a fuss is made over it because people are getting their substitute fix on the DC.
