Ok, so I watched OOTP a couple of days ago. It wasn't bad as a movie, but compared to the book, it was seriously lacking. First of all, they combined the Fireworks scene with Fred and George's departure, which I don't have a problem with. What I do have a problem with is that they cut out the Swamp, as well as Fred's request to Peeves. They also cut out a whole lot of Kreacher's nastiness, reducing him to a grumbling extra. They also cut out the Screaming Portrait, some stuff in the beginning, and all Quidditch.
They made Tonks' hair loose and kind of long, they removed the visit to St.Mungo's, and they cut out the hilarious Dursley-Order conversation featured at the end of the book. But what I'm most upset about is that they cut out almost ALL of Neville's newfound awesomeness. He had one tiny outburst concerning Bellatrix, and that was it! In fact, they cut out a majority of the goings-on in the Department of Mysteries. No room of time, no flying Brains, just endless aisles of Prophecies and the Death Chamber.
One omission that I did like, though, was the scene in the Tea Shop. I find that scene to be absolutely awful, so I was glad to see it gone.
Can't wait for the seventh book, and I hope that the rumors of an eigth are true.
P.S. They also cut out the appointment of Firenze as Divination teacher. It's not a big part of the book, but it's still there.
