amusedwriter rambles
Things I write for no apparent reason other than to pass the time. Most stories have no endings, but contain an awful lot of meaningless dialogs. Other entries are basically boring life occurrences that have nothing to do with my stories whatsoever.
Grandfather's Crew Listing
I've tried many websites to find Lester R. Drum and it seems that it is going to be harder than I had thought. My grandfather had been the pilot and Drum had been the copilot of a B-24 crew of nine men. I have my grandfather's flight notes from missions over Germany and the flight group listing of names, but still I have not been able to discover any of the crew men's whereabouts. Drum had a hobby of taking photos while in the service and before they left the service he had passed over 70 onto my grandfather and I now have that collection, because my grandfather believes that it could help me find the men pictured. He wishes to speak with his old friends, but I have yet to find a way for him to do so. The crew flew bombing and supply drop missions over France and Germany. They were stationed at the "Old Buck" air base in England and the stories told by my grandfather only make me more curious to know more about these great men.

Here's some more names of the crew:

Walter E. Barber
John J. Mahoney
Michael L. Kostan
Morton D. Spolter
Homer L. Prater
Elmer S. Lynch Jr.
George W. Carpenter Jr.

Each man held great importance to the survival of the rest and each I wish to thank for their service in WWII. Thank you Lester Drum for the amazing photographs which you have generously given to a family that values the collection highly.

I have posted 3 photos out of the collection on my profile for anyone who wishes to view them.

If anyone knows anything of the men listed please pm me. I wish to know about their lives during and/or after their service even if they are not able to tell it themselves....

Its great you're looking into the history of the war, or at least finding out about it. You're grandfather must have amazing stories to tell. I'm quite jealous, I dont have any grand parents left.
