CHAPTER 2
Dear Diary,
You will not believe what happened! I started the garden like I said I would. I dug, pulled, and raked… and then, out of no where, this gorgeous guy walks up my driveway! His name is Jordan. He said he used to come to this cabin a lot and have conversations with my grandfather. He had moved 3 years ago to another state, and finally had the chance to come back here. I had to break the news to him that grandfather had died. He was shocked. He thought grandfather would live forever, he was so fit and so full of energy. It seemed like he was close to crying. Well, he told me he was staying in a house down the road and wasn’t going back home for another two weeks. Sense I don’t come up here very often, he offered to show me around the neighborhood. He also wants to help me with my garden! Who would have thought there was a guy out there who is such a gentlemen, and handsome too! I started to say no, but changed my mind. There was something about him that made me want to get to know him better. It could be his looks, his wonderful personality, or his perfect manners. It could even be that he was so fond of my grandfather. It could just be my imagination again, but I seem to sense something not quite normal about him, something special… maybe he is magical just like the old cabin, the furniture, and the garden. Maybe, just maybe, he is the key to unlocking all this magic. I would love to witness something magical, not just in a movie or book, but in real life. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? With the help of Jordan, I got all those weeds cleared out. Tomorrow we will soften the soil and go to town to buy flowers to put in it. It could just be me, but I could have sworn I just saw something glowing outside my bedroom window! Something small and moving quickly. I suppose it was only a firefly. I need to stop filling my mind with such magical nonsense. I’m too old for that. When I was younger my mother would tell me to think more reasonably. She said it was not healthy to have as active imagination as I did. But I just can’t help it. Besides, I think it is fun to think there is magic out there, and magical creatures. I suppose I would have a lot more fun with it if I didn’t think I was being so silly. No one is going to read this, so I think I will let my mind wander as much as it likes when I write. Starting tomorrow, I will write everything I happen to be imagining, without thinking it is silly.
