When I look into your Eyes
I am always smiling,
But my smile fades,
When I see the glossed-over sorrow,
And the centuries of lonely days,
In your eyes.
I look at the sky,
To you, it’s just a sky,
But to me it’s a blue canvass,
A limitless place,
Where dreams are born.
And when I look into your eyes,
I feel lost,
For your eyes are lit from the inside with pain.
If eyes really are windows to the soul,
I wonder what you see in mine.
I walk the high road,
The road of happiness,
You walk the one of sorrow and regret,
And I can see that you want to turn back,
And start all over again,
But if such things were possible,
Would we ever have met?
And when I look into your eyes,
I feel lost,
For they hunger for someone who can understand.
If eyes really are windows to the soul,
I wonder what you see in mine.
And I can’t keep going on like this,
Never saying what I truly think,
Always keeping myself in check,
And I see that you see that too,
My soul is crying in despair.
And when I look into your eyes,
I feel lost,
For they are filled with regret.
If eyes really are windows to the soul,
I wonder what you see in mine.
